You join the main bracket and then those same people in the main bracket fill sub right?

What i mean by that is just joined a main bracket with 995 people in it. Played one match to open up the subs and says people in it?

Never mind thought these were 1000 and 1000 did not know sub sets have 200

Sometimes the subs have a different max number of players. In the case of the simulator main has 1000, subs have only 200.

yea, i think you're only guaranteed to see the same group of people if you pre-register and start it immediately. By the by slidecage, is slice 2 full now? icon_mrgreen.gif

yea slice 2 says 1000 now
  • Strangely, in the first sub of R&G, my main placement was consistently better than my sub ranking. Not sure how that could happen if this theory holds true.

Assuming it was only a few places and not 100s of places, two reasons.

    1. Repeatable node on the main screen that you completed more than your competitors allowed you to jump a few people in the main standings.
    2. There were some main/sub mismatches. In R&G, my sub had 7 more people than my main, so it is possible that those 7 players were from the prior main and had a 2 hour head start on me, leading to them placing higher in the sub, but not be a part of the main.
  • I think at one point I was 16th in the main but 65th in the sub.

I might have been an odd mismatch then. The very first main node was not repeatable, only the 2nd and 3rd were. I didn't actually start playing right at the beginning of the sub though (probably 4-5 hours late). Are you guys sure that the sub group is always the same, and not just based on time slices/veteran ranking?

I personally see the same names in the top10 of both main and subs, so assume they fill together and I get the same people in the top10 of all my subs throughout the event.
  • The main/sub fills at practically the same speed. Sometimes you'll see they differ by a single digit and I have no idea why that happens but it's not anything that you can possibly use to your advantage.

The subs randomly varies from 1000 to 200 people depending on the event and almost every time it goes to 200 you'll have people posting: "How come I am #100 (out of 200) in my sub but I'm only #500 overall???" The funny thing is that the sub of 200 is generally far more generous in terms of reward structure compared to the 1000 version even though the complaint threads are invariably about the 200 man subs. For example, only top 10 gets 100 HP in the 1000 sub, while generally more than the top 2 gets 100 HP if the sub is only 200. Even if it's only top 5, that's still 25 people getting 100 HP instead of 10.
