PvP that satisfies all

We obviously have the technology to base matches on rosters, so that rebuttal goes out the window. Why not just make rosters that exceed your opponents level by let's say 30 points unavailable to use? I can still target level 94 opponents, but any of my characters that are over 124 can't participate. It would open a free-for-all event to be a free-for-all. Stipulations could be 0-500 sees everyone in that point spread, 500-800 is the same, and 800 and above is all out. This would keep all the 1 and 2 star transitioners from being completely strongarmed and keep all of your vets happy. The main complaint I see here is that you have to use your A-Team 100% of the time to stay competitive (I agree) and this opens up your entire roster (roster diversity seems to be the devs goal) to be useful.

My question to the devs is: Is this a viable solution and would you be able to implement this system to promote fair play and appease the vets who are feeling so oppressed at the moment?

Upvote if you like the possibilities and hopefully we can get a dev to at least reply.

  • On MAA they introduced the level cap on pvp, so they choose the level everyone will be (current pvp is lv60, so if you are anywhere from 61 to 300 your level is reduced to 60).

I think they were trying something similar with that group of buffed characters (all rarities), just don't know if that is ever coming back, I liked it.

I also did well in the buffed PvP, but unfortunately I think it was merely a test of what they felt were OP'ed characters to confirm their suspicions and indirectly nerf those characters. (Check their new Health vs. Buffed characters that week). Almost every buffed character received no health buff and we haven't heard squat about the results of those buffs. It seems they used those numbers to take all those characters down a notch.
  • To make something like this work you would need the ability to set a defensive team (which has it's own set of problems), or else going after that 94 opens you up to 140s smashing your team in. Either that or everyone goes back to playing 2* Ares for everything to keep the 270s off their backs.

They need more events like Combined Arms and BoP and Women of Marvel with many buffed characters where everyone is more evenly matched. Run them as "off season" events DURING the season, just side PvPs that you can play in, or not, depending on if you need the covers. Gives transition players a place to earn covers and a less competitive PvP environment overall while maintaining the integrity of season events and scores. Everyone eventually just learns "Season events are for the big sharks" and a 400 is not going to get you very far.

I think the ability to be +25 levels above would fix that problem though, since having a level 119 3* is going to be an advantage over level 94 2*'s and having level 140+ 3*'s is an advantage over the 119's, etc... by the time you hit the 500 pt cutoff most people are going to be using their strongest 3*'s. It's definitely not a concrete plan that I presented, but I think the framework provides a foundation to build on that would offer a progressive climb (instead of the boring slogfest that PvP has become using your best from start to finish).
