I feel that D3 should just create a separate casual "sandboxed" mode. Allow people to progress each account separately or even allow someone to migrate their "Hardcore" account one way into their "Casual" account and then restart the hardcore account. There could be different ways this is structured. It would be just like Hardcore mode in Diablo.

In Hardcore mode, you accept the game rules as decided by D3. If they want to change how a character plays, you compete under their rule set. The challenge in PVP has always been about making better roster decisions, character spewing, and team compostion choices than other players. Honestly, if they hadn't nerfed Sentry Hood, we would all be playing that instead of Xforce blah blah. The nice thing about this mode, is that its still competitive and people are forced to make resource decisions. You can still make a decision to advance progress by buying covers, iso, etc... If you don't like how D3 changes a character, stop playing competitively and just play in candy crush mode. Once you figure out how to adapt your play style, go back and continue your competitive account.

In Softcore mode, every character has 15 covers and maxed levels. People can play the characters in whatever fashion they want. Yes, its a glorified candy crush, but honestly most of the user base really wants to play it like its candy crush.

Perhaps to make it financially viable, you sell access to software mode for $30 bucks and you get access to all new characters and PVE/PVP episodes that hardcore players are running.

just some random thoughts
