set up an account with my old phone so I could toy around with some stuff, but I hadn't logged in in two days. I log in just now, and I get a message that Iron Man is finished training a new skill and that he has a new level in Repulsor Blast. I thought maybe that was the previous day's daily showing up now that I've finally logged in, but no, the previous day was Black Widow (and I'm only on day 3 overall).

What in the actual heck just happened?

That notification is to tell you that you've received a shared reward from one of your alliance teammates (usually a 1* cover, a standard token, or some Iso).

'cept I'm not in an alliance on my old phone. I am with my current phone, but my old phone is just a solo account I'm using to play with some stuff.

Hrm. It's probably the rise of SkyNET, then.

I'm not sure if there's any rhyme or reason to it, and I think it only happens up to a certain point, but MPQ gives you covers for not playing - as a means to entice you back in or remind you to log in every day or something like that.

As you said that you hadn't logged in for ~2 days, so the game thinks it hasn't done enough to hold your attention but a red IM35 cover ought to do the trick.

I've had days off here and there with my other accounts but never had that happen. Maybe because this one was brand new and not one that had been around for 200+ days?

Yeah, like I said, there doesn't really appear to be a specific pattern to this happening, and I'm fairly certain it's only possible to even occur under a certain threshold. They say it takes 3 weeks to form a habit, so I wouldn't be surrpised if it only occurs during that time period.

That sounds like a push notification from Marvel Avengers Alliance.

Which is a game I've never played. I played MAAT for a while on Facebook, but that had the plug pulled.

If you don't log in for at least a whole day, you get a little gift when you come back.
First time it happens, you get a Repulsor Blast cover.
If you do it again after that, you get some HP.
After that, I don't quite know what happens. I also don't know how long it takes before these incentives reset.

so all it takes to get some extra hp is skip a day when I don't have the ddq character and its between pves? wonder if that would be worth it (probably not)? will probably find out on an upcoming vacation, so we'll see.

You can also get the Featured character for an Event if you haven't played in a while. Some one received a Prof X cover that way.

I'd be interested in that answer. I also wonder if it's based on regularity of login. If you've been logging in daily for six months, will the system send a gift if you miss a day, or is it the sporadic players it homes in on?

I used to get these and it didn't have anything to do with how long I had ignored the game. I had an untrained cover in my roster and it had expired.

To get some HP you'd need to first stay away for at least 24 hours, then login again to get the Iron Man cover, then stay away for another 24 hours. As I said, I do not know how long you have until the HP turns back to an Iron Man cover.
Keep in mind that doing this would also delay your daily rewards though.

I can see times where that might be useful, though. On the bubble between being able to afford a roster spot or not? No HP on the immediate horizon with a cover ticking down towards expiration? Taking the day off so that you can roster that character and then pick up your 3* cover from the daily the next day might be the way to go (since there's no real need for that 3* cover if you're taking a day off; might as well wait on it 'til you return).

Third time appears to be 500 ISO. Not really actively playing with that account, so I'll use it to see how far it goes (and what it does) before it resets.
