Current pvp status...

Well, I just had a go at the latest Thor PvP. I easily beat the first wave of seed teams, three in total, the usual 70/1/1 and 70/11/13, 70/2/2.
I hit the magic 70 points (woo) and was instantly faced with 290/250/166. Across the board.

So before this awful system, I could get to 600, being a transition player, now getting to 100 is going to eat up everything I have. And I doubt I would even stay at 100, when the attacks on my half-decent roster start coming through.
Thanks, D3, for making such a total and spectacular mess of this once fun game.

Let me say that the reason I find this to NOT be fun is that I have to use my "A" team for EVERY MATCH since there is no difficulty curve to progress up. I used to use Patch/Laken, or try some of my undercovered heroes, on the climb to 500 or 600 but now it is top 2 plus featured all the time.

And they say they want to foster diversity.....I call ****.

Yep +1, I agree this is the worst change even compared to all the recent character nerfs. PVP isn't fun anymore. People should be able to use powerful characters and feel powerful for at least a little bit every event.

Went through my three seeds, found a few matches I could take, hit a bit 100 points! But everyone wants to wait now more than ever, so that 100 points puts me in T50. And all around me all I see is 17599 hit-points (290 LT). Hulk PVP with new MMR was terrible, and this is worse.

Thor has been out for a very very long time. Plus he's good. I imagine 290 Thor is going to be the standard. That doesn't diminish the "fun factor" of a PvP, it just is what it is. In fact, I'm looking forward to using my Thor at 290.

Maybe I'm in the minority here, but PvP to me is the same as it ever was. Find high point matches, try not to take damage, when you run out of health packs come back later. That you can no longer cruise to 600 doesn't bother me.
  • Aren't the beginning of pvps usually filled with the kinds of players that score higher than most and have more established rosters? Wouldnt that be the reason why you sometimes see that wall so early, because at this point, you'll be paired up with whoever is available? That's what I've assumed and which is why I usually avoid starting a pvp so early.
  • I've cut back on MPQ significantly in the past month, but if this is the way it is going to be , bye bye MPQ.
  • Start later for a more diverse opponent pool. And pay the skip tax in order to find reasonable match-ups.

While that is true, it is a minor factor in what we are seeing. The biggest change, by far, is the MM tweak. Even starting the minute it opened I used to see 2* rosters all the way to 500 or 600, now I dont see a single one. I understand the reason (2*s dont get constantly pounded) but the drawbacks (same rewards, worse MM bubbles, lack of diversity, etc) really seem to out weigh the benefits.

In the last two PVPs Ive hit spots where I had the same person 6 out of 10 skips. One of the times the person was worth 18 (decreasing if I played a match) while the other the person was ahead of me to start at 36 points. I hit that person 5 times. Yes, that wasnt nice of me but the MM system is what really caused the problem. If they are the ONLY person I see worth more than 20 points in over 25 skips, yeah, Ill cave and beat them to **** repeatedly.
