Last season I plunked down some money because my Lthor and loki were almost usable and I was close to getting top 100 in the pvps. I got them to a higher level than the typical ares/obw ** teams (initially got Lthor up to 120, now up to 140). I made some progress and the last half of the season finished top 100 most of the time and got to ~500 on a regular basis from the doom event on.

Question #1 - with what I had, was I not supposed to be finishing top 100 and hitting 500 pts?

Because now neither happens and my Lthor is at 140 and loki at 128, they are higher leveled and better covered and now I scratch and claw my way up to the low/mid 400s and now finish just out of the top 100. At the end of the events I wade through team after team of 270/290/166 teams and the like - spend thousands on skips trying to find something that I deem remotely winnable. Now my 4/3/4 Lthor is at 140 and my 4/1/5 loki is at 128 (waiting for the leveling discounts later in the week to take him to his current max level of 130). So...

Question #2 - is my Lthor/loki enough to be taking on 166s with mostly loaner/low cover featureds?

My strategy so far is to take on a single 166 if it is not top tier if the other is 140 or below (have taken down a blade and a gsbw). I just really feel that taking on maxxed Lthors/patch/hulk/daken/hood/magneto/blade/panther/deadpool is very risky but that is all I seem to have the option of playing once I enter the 400s now. My only other ***s that might contribute as a featured character (level 94-104) are daredevil, grocket, doom, punisher, hood (5/3/-) and maybe storm (only at 66 but 5 blacks, so theres that). So, mostly I'm playing with a minimally covered featured or a loaner. I'd really like to have some input from some of the more experienced guys because it feels like after all my $ and hard work, I have regressed back to where I was when I was just running ares/obw (a full season ago). If I can't finish top 100, I'm going to stop shielding because at this point, the only hp coming back to me is the 25 at 400 where I used to also get the 25 for top 100 and made the 575 progression (and crossed 600) during teenage riot when things seemed to be back to 'normal'. Not sure what my strategy should be moving forward. I thought I had things figured out - that's why I added 3 covers to each loki and thor. It was a plan that was supposed to work but know I admit I have no idea what I should be doing (or should have done). I'd love the thor cover in this event even though I'd have to respec him later just so I could push him higher, but heavy metal and hulk events I could not finish top 100.

#1: Yes, hitting t100 using a slightly under-covered Lazy Thor with Loki is a reasonable goal. Though I think of 600 as the target number for doing that. It's shifting with all the changes to matchmaking going on. That's the problem your'e experiencing. . . you're the victim of the new matchmaking system. They improved it a bit for the Kingpin event, but climbing to 600 in PvP just isn't as easy as it used to be.

#2: Yes. 166 is just a number. You're smarter than the ai, you get to go first, Thor and Loki are powerful, and you can use boosts if you have to. Just be aware that those people are going to see a fight with an under-covered Thor and happily retaliate, so I wouldn't take those teams on until you're ready to shield.

dont make take alot away from the last few pvps. matchmaking has been a huge disaster. it appears somewhat corrected as of now in the kingpin event. see how you do here and in the thor pvp upcoming. thor/loki at your levels can win even against similar 166 teams because loki abuses the "ai". the only problem is your matches will be slow and you will likely eat alot of damage every match and thor will likely need a healthpack after every match. you should be able to snag top 100s with effort though. loki is just too good, although thor doesnt allow loki the best use of his black like patch does.

I'm happy to say that the mmr issues seem to be better here in hostile takeover. I lost to a 130 torch/obw team (only lost 6 pts thought) but I beat an xf in the 170s (all yellow, and then kingpin cannibalized his cd on his attack ). so, we'll see how it goes. it was very disheartening to lose an entire season of progress (felt like it anyways). thanks

#1 L.Thor + Loki + Featured would most certainly land you in the top 100 with 500 points. A better goal, still obtainable would be t25 when you get 2 featured covers. You could go so far to say t10 is achievable depending on your slice and probally with a shield, you'll earn 100HP for t10 so a 75HP shield is a net 25

#2 Whist you can probally defeat a team of 166, I would avoid them in PvP to preserve health packs. a 120 team worth a couple points less (say 22) is a better match than a 166 team (25pts) since you could possible escape the 120 team unscathed and get another 22pt match out of it.

Needless to say you should be dismantling 2* teams, a single call the storm should do the trick.
