I wanted to write this when I first saw the Health Increase changes on Friday but I decided to take a break from MPQ and see what would happen by Monday. All I see is players complaining about the same things.
I agree with what everyone has stated. It's quite annoying to read ' Characters with less health are getting the biggest increase, while characters with a relatively high amount of health aren’t changing at all.. They might as well have said "We noticed most players use 2* Storm, OBW, Hood, Loki, Daken, Patch, 3Thor, Hulk and a couple of others so in order to further promote diversity, we are increasing the remaining 96% of the characters' health to maintain a long sustained game," pretty much an indirect nerf.
If they want to nerf/buff certain characters, fine, but increasing the health is absolutely ridiculous for a cell phone game. I want to be able to sneak off into the bathroom to get a quick game in, I want to be able to play in a car ride, play briefly before I go to bed, etc. Increasing the health of so many characters is going to cause much longer games and also more deaths in PVE.
I'm not going to repeat what everyone has been saying with PVE scaling and goon feeding, this is something everyone has alerted to for months. Besides spending an extra 5-10 minutes per match, if/when I lose, my characters will take much longer to get back to 100%, the scaling will increase because god forbid it decreases. DPQ is going to be much harder, I am a 2*-3* transititoner, I have been able to beat it with lvl 94 Ares, Daken and OBW, none of which received health increases so now I'm not sure if I'll be able to beat it as easily.
The 4/17 update affects all players that will ultimately change the way we play MPQ and I don't think for the better..
Each week feels like you want us to stop playing. I really hope you are listening to us on this one.

I hear ya.
But the increase will go live as they outlined.
PvP matches will get longer. You will get hit more as you try and climb in the higher point range (above 500). You will take more damage and use ever more health packs.
PvE matches will take longer. You will take more damage as you go through the nodes and you will need to use ever more health packs.
Their whole point is to stealth nerf some key characters and try to enforce diversity because they lack the skill to create a dynamic enough range of effective characters to use without such a measure. And for some reason, they see an overall benefit to the game if matches take longer. They have a host of goals for that. Most of which this changes will fail to achieve.
Have fun!0 -
MPQ diversity, paraphrased from an old Dilbert comic...
The longer you stay here, diverse it gets.0 -
They seem to be attempting to make it so not everyone plays the same 6-8 characters.
I'd like to know what other changes are coming. It seems like some kind of shielding change is in the works, due to the bugs in cooldowns.
I think they are trying to kill shield hopping once and for all, but I don't think they see that things like sniping we become even more significant and a more negative play experience than what they are trying to kill.0 -
I originally hated the health changes and upon reaching the 'acceptance' stage of things I'm actually getting kind of excited....why?
Discussing things on Line there's a pretty wide variety of potential characters who seem 'viable' now thanks to the health change. This game won't necessarily be one that's all about fast spike damage characters. We may see the rebirth of offensive specialty tiles and other strategies to manage the new found health pools. Best of all...it's looking more and more like there 'may' not be a single BEST duo for just about every pvp situation.
Those potentially optimistic thoughts aside...
The grind required to play MPQ competitively is nuts.
Practically no one wants to endure much longer match times while obtaining the same general rewards.
If longer match lengths are here to stay then please do something about progression rewards in PvP.
Make the experience shorter via the prog rewards.
Or if you have to increase the rewards to reflect the added time investment necessary.0 -
So from what I gather they should just decrease every character's health by 25% instead and that'd be the best patch ever.0

I really don't think this is a negative. As for the reasons mentioned above, I have about 15 3*s leveled to max, and another 4 or 5 that I haven't started on that are fully covered.
None of them mattered, because the only thing I would play with in PVP was XForce/Fury. Which fundamentally meant that every reward that I was getting that wasn't another 4 star was useless.
They tried the "Let's boost 10 guys at once" for the PVP that was completely rejected by the populous. This is their counter to that. They are now saying that more people are relevant, and they are encouraging diverse rosters to thrive.
Good.
I spent the last PVP doing nothing but fighting either X-Force/Hood or X-Force/Thor or X-Force Fury, and I did it with my X-Force/Fury. That's dumb.
Now, I will admit that certain characters like Hulk & Colossus are not benefiting from this, as Hulk should have some sort of mythic level of HP. With the upgrades, he really should have shot to 17,000 or something insane. His abilities are really sub-standard so his HP was always one of his latent draws. Now he doesn't even have that. But, we might see a hulk upgrade in the near future too.
Anyway, this is another drastic change in a long line of drastic changes. We'll be fine.0 -

Well, shouldn't we wait and see? If it's not for the better it will be changed back or fixed somehow. If it's for the better, then there will be no reason to complain. Complaining before experiencing it, on the other hand is quite fruitless.0 -

I am new to the forums but I have been playing for awhile. With that said, when have they ever changed something back that wasn't considered a 'test run?' Besides the AP banner for goons (which was stupid to begin with), I do not recall any other changes. Also, this is too big of a change for them to simply say 'Well we tried it but now we're reducing everyone's health back to their original max.' This change is here to stay and while I understand it addresses several areas such as Shield Hopping, rubberbanding, using the same 3-4 characters, relying more on self-healers such as Wolv and Daken, etc., it will now require us to play more which defeats the purpose of a cellphone game. I can no longer compete when I am trying to juggle my life around MPQ.
I just wish they would focused on new content and events (that is not new characters) rather than trying to 'fix' everything.0 -
Here's the thing - if you look at who got left out of the health bump, one character really stands out - 2* Storm.
Really??? She doesn't pay a "penalty" for health to use her powers? How is that Mohawk gets a health bump but 2* Storm does not?
Now - as I said previously, I think this whole health bumping is crazy bad for the game but right in line with the dev's warped belief since the beginning that games should stretch out longer and that they are hell bent on roster diversity by hook or by crook (instead of being creative in how the new characters are created).
But, if we're going to have a health bump - what's the rationale for not bumping 2* Storm ???0 -

I agree, I barely use 2* Storm because she barely has any health. They also bumped up 3* Black Widow over her 2* counterpart. I am going to assume that they want 3* transitioners to stop relying on 2* characters.
I've always used my roster diversity to win as much as possible. I rarely use health packs, I think I have over 66 right now. I only use them if there is not much time remaining. I know alot of people rely on the health pack refreshes, so I am surprised they did not simply remove those from the game or extend the time to respawn your 5 health packs, but I'm sure that's next to come.0 -
More health means longer matches and more need for health packs, as previously stated many times. While I think more health is good in many ways, especially when it comes to my current **** roster, the conspiracy theorist in me thinks that maybe, possibly, in a roundabout sort-of way, this is a ploy to SELL more of those health packs. And that's ok, I'm not saying it's a bad thing. Yay capitalism, and all that. I just wish the publisher made it a bit easier for poor schlubs like me be more competitive without having to grind, grind, grind. My kids would like to see me a bit more, ya know?
That said, I'm not complaining... much. Just putting my two cents in, for what it's worth. Which is probably about a half penny. Maybe less.0 -
Over 400 days here. DEVS! If you want us to stop playing with the same set of characters, give us something better to use! I have a great many characters ready to go but I don't have THE ONE MILLION, FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND ISO (!!!!!!!!!!!!!) IT WOULD TAKE TO MAKE THEM USEABLE!!! So please stop screwing around with malicious changes and ruining this game and admit you messed up and make the real fundamental changes we demand of you! You will be amazed how quickly public sentiment will swing back to the positive.
1) Fix the MMR. Really truly fix it. You've broken PvP. Give us different reward brackets if you are so worried about the little guys. Sharks swim in the same ocean as seals. Just how it goes.
2) Stop with the asinine scaling in PvE. I do not have one single team that can beat the last node in Thunderbolt Mountain. Not one. Even if you hadn't screwed up boosts for us. And I've all but skipped the last two PvEs so my MMR should be LOW. Depending on which theory you believe. Because you guys are not upfront about this.
3) Stop nerfing every damn thing. Characters, boosts, shields, health increase backdoor Hood nerfs, team ups, matchmaking, did I miss any?
4) Give us new content! The 1000th running of Prodigal Sun is just as fun as the first but 1001 is where we draw the line.
5) Stop slowing the game down! Put Boosts and team ups back the way they were. If I beat a level 300 Juggernaught, I deserve a level 300 boost, not a level 40 insult.
6) Shake it up! Have you seriously looked at the rewards in the Simulator? Holy **** they are useless. Why do we get the exact same rewards every time with only the covers changing in every PvE? It was great when 3* Human Torch was the 500 point prize. Why have I won and tossed an extra 6 green 3* Storm covers from events?
7) The Thrill is Gone - BB King. New Characters should be met with great anticipation. It should be special. Not "which of this weeks three new Bag Characters are going after?" "Sure isn't going to be BagSilver lol!"0 -
I'm not opposed to increased health, but I didn't expect so many characters to be impacted. I'm most curious how Mohawk Storm will play afterwards.
Would've been nice for 2* Storm and Black Widow to be included in the health bump as others have stated. I mean, c'mon, what's two more names on that long list?0 -
Bad:
- Long overall grinds with point spreads that don't justify the extra grind and unpredictability of long matches.
- Featured character boosts (that are already stupid at levels above the natural stat cap) will get worse. how much fun was it slogging through a lethal, 10k HP DD, let alone hulk or Lthor?
But on the good:
- at their unboosted levels, flaky HP characters like 3*storm, psylocke, nerfed Mystique and DD will actually get to see some significant playtime because their health wont be utter garbage.
I'm conflicted.0 -

2* Storm is among the top characters of her category. Mohawk is among the bottom in hers. I don't see how that's not immediately evident.DD-The-Mighty wrote:I'm conflicted.
Guess we'll have to wait and see, then.0 -

It is evident.
It also means that they are purposefully using Health to encourage the use of other characters while discouraging from using the ones that are most effective.
Some characters did need a bump in Health. This broad but selective stroke of changes smacks of something other than merely bringing others up to snuff.
To me it also signifies they don't know how to balance the full range of characters they have created so they are using higher Health levels to try and force us away from the ones they managed to get right. Well, to some extent, anyway.
And none of that even touches on the potential impact this will have on PvP and PvE.
Overall, I think this will be a net negative for many if not all players.
I don't want to have to spend more time and money to get the same rewards I am getting now.0 -

The good: Hulk and LThor aren't getting any additional health, so their boosted forms will be unchanged from what we all know and love.
The bad: You'll have to change your beautiful sig once Lady-Hulk forgets how to do her pseudo heal and just attacks the enemy's resources more.0 -
