Shield down, get swarmed by attack. WHAT?

Anyone realize any time your shield goes down, you suddenly get attacked?

Anyone tried to contact the other person via msg to see if they even initially attacked?

Out of the 8hours shield, I've only been attacked twice. Soon as I got out of the shield, in 15minutes I get attacked by 7 different person I haven't provoked. Coincidence? This has been happening since last 2 weeks when 'shield' patch was implemented

I have a inclination that this game has it programmed to be 'provoke player #1245' even if you didn't attack them so that each of you force yourself to waste health pack/time. Then both of you get in the circle of repeated chaos only to force you to 'shield' up(chi Ching!)

Am I the only one having this problem or wsup?

    That's the state of the game today. Your only option is to move up your rank a bit then re-shield. Wait out the retaliations and do it all over again.

    I think it's normal.

    I had no gold coin(roster space too tight, several characters need multiple copies to save the downtime for pve), so I never shielded in the pvp events.

    I am getting 1 attack on average every 3 minutes if my rating is above 600. 1 attack per hour above 500, no attack if my rating drop below 500.

    I guess the OP didn't get the "pay to win or else" memo...

    At this point most speculate that you are removed from the selection pool when you shield. The only ppl able to attack after you shield are ppl who you attacked and have a retaliation for you or someone who happened to have you qued up for some reason. The moment you unshield you are back in the pool of opponents. Of course since everyone shielded cannot be seen, and only ppl with high scores shield, when a high score DOES pop up its chum in the water and you become the target of a feeding frenzy until your points are low enough you are not worth attacking.

    The current meta forces shield use on you basically...or to wait until the last hour or two of playing to start a bracket so everyone else has to deal with it the same...at which point its basically a lightning round.
