My plan and suggestion for those like me

To be honest, I do not play this game, or others, with life altering dedication. As a teacher I barely scrape by, and can only play on my work assigned ipad. I have paid a small amount to the game and was planning on paying again soon solely to increase roster spaces. So, no, I am not a P2W player in any way.

With the recent changes in boost costs and the near inability to win event matches I am simply going to log in, win a super easy battle and collect daily rewards for a while just to see if things get better. I blew all of my ISO8 pumping up Thor/Wolverine only to see them neutered .

Again this is only for players like me who enjoy a less stressful, relaxed brand of playing. I do not see the point in having to spend an hour getting my rear end beaten to bring an event battle down to a level that I can have a chance at winning.

Maybe things will change back, until then good luck! I hope the game gets back on track.

Comments

  • You of course know, the next thing planned is the removal of getting the daily reward by doing a trivial mission. Mark my words, it's coming.
  • I take hope in that the devs seem to know that this recent Thick As Thieves event is a bit of a clunker. Hopefully the knowledge gained from watching this play out will help the devs refine this type of event in the future.

The Hulk event is my favorite one thus far though, if I'm being honest. I play the PvE in order to get lots of ISO in a relatively fast manner, so the way that event worked was just fine for me. I even got a few good pulls for the tokens I won in both runs of that event. It also slipped very nicely into my schedule.
  • I know... and that will be the end for me coming on at all.

Is it just me, or does it seem like this is the life course of most freemium games out there?
  • I'm not seeing how you can get more casual back when everyone was clearly every mission 6 times because they can be boosted. You'd come nowhere close to those guys even if you have the right personnel if you don't have the time.

Now that it's actually hard to clear the 230X3 even once, you can significantly reduce the amount you play. I won my sub bracket by a score of 300 over #2, which is pretty insane given the last 3 sub brackets I was in I ended up losing by about 5 points. The first 3 brackets are necessarily that close because all the top guys were doing every mission 6 times (and some are doing 8). But, 5 points is 5 missions and that's just as big a gap as 300 points (which is roughly the sum of the 5 highest point missions) that I did on the final refresh. The difference is that now you know when it's out of reach earlier.
  • I dunno, I've been getting between 5 and 8k per sub so this event is going well for me, adding lots of levels to my roster. I'd rather not have to tank but I don't mind since I'm seeing results.
  • As a casual player I do not PVP much at all. I like doing the events, not to win, but just to follow the story line and collect swag.
  • How can u complain about them nerfing 2 stars that were broken and easily outclassing 3 stars?

On top of that they are offering fair compensation if you decide to sell them. I got 18k iso and 400 hp for selling my 66 wolv.
  • You can complain because when you spend money on a mustang gt and they decide to put a smart car engine in it after you pay for it, you feel cheated.

I don't think I can put any more money in this game. They should have just made the **** 3 star cards better instead of pulling the rug after people put money into the game with what they had.

jsnow13, you know nothing. (Just a GOT shoutout, if that's not clear!) Seriously, though, I feel for you 100%, and I may follow in your footsteps, though not right away. One note of caution: be prepared to sell off some of the covers you'll end up getting as a daily reward if you don't have the roster space; the reason why I'm still playing as of the most recent update is because I just got a Doom cover, and I'm 200HP away from buying another slot.

    It is the cycle.
As a very experienced player at freemiums this is basically what happens.

You join during beta or shortly after beta. - things are awesome, rewards are plentiful and substantial.
Couple months in - you have started investing a little here and there, you get good results things are well , rewards in steady decline
Couple more months - the rewards are awful - new players have no chance - everything becomes pure pay 2 win. Old players who are frustrated with changes leave game. - new players who don't know how abundant rewards used to be doesn't realize how incredibly much more difficult it is for them in comparison. They don't have the "fun" version of the game to play. They continue spending in their ignorant bliss while developers rake in the dough for another ruined game.

In other words. Get your refunds now, iTunes and google will stop giving them if the requests get too overwhelming. You have to act fast. Do anything you can to alert others, forums, Facebook, ratings in the store, refunds.

It takes a lot of people and a lot of actions to make a difference. Use words to provoke actions that will result in positive outcome. No point in insulting and complaining. U gotta find a way to reach their wallet like they reach ours.

    Are people getting refunds?
  • I already got a refund through ITunes, specifically for the unannounced changes (Rag, HP for Boosts, and other nefarious changes meant to harm the paying customer.... Apple customer service rocks! Screw this game...Time to take my money and play a different game, any suggestions?

Hearthstone is awesome. Solforge is also good. How do you go about getting a refund?

Hehe. Did you use my format?

Yes I did, Thanks so much!
  • I'm not an utter casual player, as I've put about 100 hours into this. I've daftly spent around £100 too and quite possibly gone about levelling my characters all the wrong way. But now, I'm faced with this Thick as Thieves tourney and I can't actually complete missions as it's insisting on giving me level 132 Maggia that rip my characters to shreds in minutes. I feel sorry for those with lvl230 enemies, but all in all, this game went from fun to "I almost want to stab something".

I'm not too bothered about the Thor and Wolvie changes, although I can see why they annoy people. But all this difficulty ramp along with the hike in cost to boosts? Not fun.

    Can you elaborate on this?

    loved it! thanks Simpson!!

And thanks to those who agreed with me. I won't ask for a refund because I really did enjoy playing the game for a long time. I just don't understand why these game devs don't use some common sense and make good money. Greed is an ugly, ugly thing.

This is the playstyle the game is very much in danger of sacrificing. It's my preferred style and has me spending just fine.

I am optimistic that the new normal will be fine for you.

What we had before was people using all the boosts all the time, and some really powerful character combinations. As a result we needed 230s to be a challenge, and towards the end even they weren't for the better equipped.

So now that they are removing the boosts and normalising characters at a lower power level, they can also back off the challenges to compensate for that.

The current PvE event is broken. That's not a side effect of any of the character or AP changes, it was broken from the first day. So gauging future playability off this event isn't a good move. Also the opponent scaling which was so broken for this event seems to have been an attempt to cater to people like yourself, where mobs scaled on victories, so you could have an easier playthrough and then escalate if you had time / inclination.
