A tax, a subscription...what?

So, new characters are being created thick and fast, it seems. Which is great for varied gameplay, but as each new tournament requires the previous new character, actually playing all aspects of the game seems to mean players need the new characters.
My roster set up now means 600hp is needed for a new character. Which is £4, or about 6$. A new character a week is £16 a month, if I want to take full advantage and win the character.

So, essentially, this is now a voluntary tax. I would actually prefer a subscription, like WoW does, than keep paying like this. And I know roster slots will soon be 700hp...800hp...where will it end? £10 for a new slot? Ridiculous.

Yes, keep the new characters coming, but please do somthing about the cost of slots.yes, I know I 'don't have to', but we know I want to, as not having a chacpracter really limits gameplay. Like, NO WAY could I get 65,000 without Kamala in the last tournament.

Thoughts?

The pace of pushing out new characters is creating a 'keeping up with the Jones's' mentality. We talk about grinding through the nodes or PVPs; actually, it's the game that is grinding through us. We don't just need the shiny new toy for the next PVE but we need it to counter our opponents in PVP. D3 has (inadvertently?) created an endless cycle that is exhausting everyone. What we need to do is take a deep breath and a step back. I am just as competitive as the next guy but I am not going to sacrifice my time, money, and family on the alter of D3 just to stay competitive.

As to your original question, I agree with you. Slot prices are outrageous and should be reined in. Having every hero in my roster would be insanely expensive. I am at the point where I have to evaluate every character and if I want to add someone then another will have to get the boot. But even that is self-defeating. If I only keep the best characters it's practically guaranteed they will be nerfed. Uhg, the more I think about how broken mpq is the more depressed I get.

In one q anf a the devs said they think a fun part about th game is deciding on who will be on your roster and who won't. When I transitioned I remember making choices to Sacrafice 2* that I played with and needed to collect 3*. I also remember dumping some 3* early because I knew I would not be able to get more covers and use them and I needed more 2*. I had sold Spiderman when I first started 470 days ago because I neede. Roster space and he was unplayable with 1 cover, what I didn't know was he was the best character in the game. I also had sold Loki when I was in the 2-3* transition. I was using my 2* with my 3* and really needed my 2* for PVE. These are the choices I made as a F2P player. I now have over 6K HP and basicly use my HP for shields and roster slots.

I am not saying I agree with roster slot prices, but given th way the game is now players will have to choose to Sacrafice a player now to continue to be successful in events today.

This is one of the points where, IF the developers are telling the truth, they are missing an understanding of comic book fans and collectors. Almost every comic book fan I know, has collections of hundreds or thousands of comics. One of my friends needed to add a room onto his home for his comics.

If they moved to a subscription model I'd stop playing. As much as I like collecting, the MMR change eliminated tanking so I'm just going to sell off my 1 and 2*s except for those I need for DDQ. Saves me 700 HP (I think, might be 800 now)

It doesn't end! It keeps going up and up and up infinitely! Yet D3P says that infinite aspects of the game are bad. My next slot will cost more than a 3* and 4* cover combined ! IMO, a slot should not cost more than 4* cover, max.

Honestly, there is no need to have every character in the game. Pick the ones you want, ditch the rest, i mean be honest.. at what point are you going to need 60 chars? How long has it been since you have used some of them? I have sold 3* covers simply because i did not want the char (3*IM and Sentry for example).

I feel your Pain JCT. I was once building a "Clone Army" with my duplicate characters. I stopped @ 83 slots and have been slowly selling them off to make room for the new Characters. The prices that you quoted are so nuts, i don't know how you keep up.

The only bright side to having so many slots is that if/when you do decide to start selling them....you will be set for a while.
