New PVP Format - how many members did you lose?

How many of you are still having fun? To me this game is now depressing. I worked my **** off on my rosters and put almost a year into this game and now I have to work twice as hard to get less pts that I would have to. If I don't, then I won't even get top 100 for myself or hit min req for the alliance that I helped build. While the devs are busy "tweaking" pvp to cater to the new plays they are forgetting about the vets that stuck with them through thick and thin. What people want is new content, pve scaling to be fixed, a break from new toons, and them to change pvp. The old format was flawed, but this new format is making the vets pay for it. So what is the issue? The problem is that the devs decided to cater to new players. Because the devs started their rosters over, they forgot to check how the vets are being treated. I can't say this for everyone, but I've adjusted to the no shield cd, unnecessary nerfs, realizing I can never win a 4* in pve and most recently that I was close to getting 1k pts. Because of these changes, I will never get 1k pts. These changes have killed my spirit... This game is now a job/chore to me. Unless they fix this in 3 weeks I'll be quitting this game and there are several other alliances members that feel the same. I want to know everyone else's feelings on this and if any of you plan to leave. Also are there any alliance members that are thinking about quitting?

  • I'm still having fun because I play to have fun. While I enjoy getting new characters, the weight of the world doesn't crush me if I miss one. I have tonnes of fully covered 3*'s with not a one at level 166.

I have fun because I like to match things and make sound effects when I xforce someone (to spell it would be something like p-tew. For some reason xforce sounds like a lazer). It would stop being fun when it gets serious, it becomes like a job then, and lets face it - this is game.

It's all about the journey, not the destination and I like the journey of getting characters. So release one a day I say, I'll get round to it at some point.
  • I'm not quitting, but my pvp playing is definitely going to decline. My goal is to lower my sharding to the point that, when I actually need a cover, it's not the hell it currently is under the new system.
  • Just like the OP i have the same concern with the game. Even though i'm not a seasoned vet lik emost people on the forums, ive been managing to get to 1k the past couple of events. I just finished getting to 1K with the KK event and told myself NICE i have a fully covered max hulk, this should be fun. After the seed team i started getting level 290 Hulks along with 2 level 166 or 2 level 270s. I still managed to baet them but im not even at 200 and out of health packs... unfortunately the vets and those with developed rosters are the ones getting punished with this new format. Somethings gotta give cause this cant go on like this. I see people shielding at 300. Health packs, shields, all of this are HP. HP that we are already rarely getting. Don't tell me DDQ solved HP cause i can tell you right now not a single person is swimming in the HP pool from taco pools. I haven't been shy from spending money but at this rate the HP is dropping weekly. I'm still enjoying the game cause its marvel and match, can't go wrong with that, but like the OP said, the vets are the ones that have stuck through regardless of the changes. It's gotten to the point where the big dogs are leaving and it surely seems lke that is the intention of devs. I hope im wrong in this last statement.

I understand for some it's just a game. And it is the same for all of us. But for some of us it's a game where weve spent a lot of time on and wanna see our hard efforts rewarded. The purpose of PVP is for you to develop your roster even if it means getting hammered by bigger ones. That's how you go on top of the food chain. Everyone was at a point where theyd get hammered back down to 150 after reaching 400-500. But i always told myself one day imma be the guy whos gonna drop the new guys. And then get dropped by the vets. It's survival of the fittest. It's a game. You wanna cater to the new guys no problem. By all means they are also playing this game. That doesn't mean you throw away all your 4-500 day old vets under the bus.

I hope you guys realize this and do fix it, cause at some point all the developed 3* rosters will also leave the game and a max of 2* will be left. It'll be a shame to the game.

    Cheers

I'm on day 530 and well into the 4* transition. I have a maxed XForce and sprinkling of other covers. I would not classify myself as "new".
Heavy Metal was the first PvP in probably a year that I managed to finish in #1 (did it with ~1020 points).
In Teenage Riot, I finished at #24, with ~915 points. The top scores were over 1400 - and the player that came in #1 wasn't competing because they needed covers: they had all 4*'s fully covered and leveled, including Kingpin (before TaT had finished) and 2 XF Wolverines. I didn't look much further through their roster, but I don't think they were hard up for Hulk covers.

I wasn't interested in Hulk covers either, I just had my eye on the Kamala cover progression reward. After I got that, I cleared a few more matches for that last event token (because a 2% chance is still a chance) and shielded up for the rest of it.

Anyway, my point is that I play fairly casually. Two seasons ago I was averaging ~600 points per PvP and now I'm averaging ~900. I'm having more fun now than I have had in a long time, so I'm not really seeing how PvP caters to new players now.

I'm in a T250 PvP Alliance and they almost never mention the stuff that is all the Rage on the Forums. As far as I know, they didn't even notice a difference in the Heavy Metal tourney. Not a single comment about it in the Alliance chat and no one left as far as I know.

Only a couple of them visit the Forum, ever, so some of them will talk about how awesome Sentry is and other things you'd never utter here. But it's true for them. One guy won his bracket with Sentry recently. The forum is very biased for top-level players and top-level player problems.

There's a pretty huge difference between a t100 and a t250 alliance. I've been in both over the past few seasons. After around the 110 mark there's a cliff-like drop. Three people from a highest-end alliance could achieve top 250 all by themselves. Most of the changes causing all the uproar on the forums affect only about 2500 players. I think, on the one hand, those 2500 people are justifiably annoyed, while also thinking, on the other hand, that they tend to forget what a rarefied group they are.

I dropped out of the top 100 alliance chase a long time ago and the game became fun again.

    - I can skip annoying events
    - I can skip PvEs that have no rewards for me, drastically reducing my scaling.
    - I don't need to strive for x00 points in every event or face a kick.
    - I can take a week off.

You need to look at what the devs are doing to you and what you are doing to yourself. There is an environment where you can play high stakes / high pressure, but there are other ways to play if you aren't enjoying that one.

The problem is that I used to like getting new characters. I could do 1 pve and take 1 or 2 off. Now there has been 1 a week for 3 weeks. I also liked seeing my progress improve. 2 seasons ago I averaged 750 pts. Last season I averaged 850 pts. I got to 900 more last season than I have ever have. Now my progress is deadlocked because of these changes. I work 8-5 and I am busy at night. Yet I was still able to put up good numbers and run an alliance. These changes make it to where I can't play at a high level anymore unless I shield while at work otherwise I'll get knocked under 300 pts where in the past I could rest at 600 pts and not worry about getting hit too much.

I'm more frightened by how many paragraphs were abandoned in this thread.

The difference between top 100 and top 250 is like a crack in the pavement vs the grand canyon. This is coming from a leader of a top 100 and a top 250 alliance.

If the OP is judging the changes to the new system now, it is way too early to even think about it. Playing PVP too early is always terrible, so hold judgement until the final day of the end of your pvp when normal people start to play. That is just how the mechanics work, less people playing = less points distributed across the board.
  • I don't even see a diffrence.
Before the update I faced max 3 teams for 20 Points.
After the update surprise the same exact thing.
Nothing changed expect I get attacked way more even at 600, becuse there are no worthy or easy oppnents.
  • Update: So far I am sitting at rank 21 with 335 pts. The 1st node after the seed teams was a max Hulk, 200 XF and 200 4hor. After some skipping I can see some winnable fights, but the main thing I have to think about now is "will I be retaliated against?" This really changed the strategy of PVP. However, the new system is flawed. My friend has a 94 roster and he is finding a 166 wall at 100 pts, he is only 50 (something) days old by the way. When I was 50 days old I got excited when I got a 2* cover. I earned every card that I had and there was a sense of accomplishment when I improved. I knew I couldn't go from 1* to 3* and I respected the fact that PVP was built more like a tower. You start at the bottom and you get stronger so that you can beat the 166's that would beat on me. How did I do this? I did PVE to earn my 3*, I drew them in packs, and I built my 2* rosters. Why would they create a "1 size fits all PVP system"? When I had a 94 roster I knew I had to fight, scratch, and climb to get worthy enough for 3* covers. Also if I won said 3* I knew it would take a while to be able to use the character.
