background tiles active during skills

This problem has occured during the thick as thieves pve event with patch and spiderman I have tried using their skills and when I try select the skill it selects the tile behind the skill not allowing me to select the specific skill (patch's red and spidey's blue) to use the skill I have to close the skill menu and re-open it and try again.
