Hello potential advisors!

I apologize in advance as this may be quite a lengthy post.

I'm on day 77 and currently working on building my 2*s up however I've also accumulated quite a few 3*'s now and I'm not quite sure how to proceed. So I'm looking for some advice on who to focus on and who to drop in 3* land.

Here's my current roster/inventory:

Character - Covers - Level/Current max
1*'s
IM35 - Max
MStorm - Max
MBW - Max

2*'s
Captain Marvel - fully covered - 80/94
MNMags - 10/13 - 71/71
CStorm - 10/13 - 65/71
Torch - 11/13 - 58/78
OBW - 6/13 - 39/39
Wolvie - 6/13 - 39/39
Ares - 6/13 - 39/39

3*'s
R&G - 4/13 - 55/55
Squirrel Girl - 3/13 - 45/45
Doom - 2/13 - 43/43
Thor - 2/13 - 43/43
GSWidow - 3/13 - 40/53
Hood - 2/13 - 40/53
Cyclops - 2/13 - 40/43
Deadpool - 2/13 - 40/43
Cage - 2/13 - 40/43
Blade - 1/13 - 40/40
Punisher - 1/13 - 40/40
Patch Wolvie - 1/13 - 40/40
Spider-man - 1/13 - 40/40

I have about 28k iso to pour into the roster.

In my queue I currently have:

Another Spidey cover, a Loki cover, and two Mohawk Storm covers, one of which expires in 5h at time of writing.

Token wise I have:
218 Standard
16 Heroic
14 Deadpool Daily
11 Enemy of the state
6 Dark Avengers: Heroic

I only have 75hp so not likely to be getting any new slots any time soon so that leaves me with the age old question of who to cut?

Is it worth adding Storm or Loki to the roster. I was considering dropping spidey for one as both covers are for his blue power and I don't see him as that great of a character. Loki being the DDQ reward as well means I've essentially got two covers sitting for him just now.

I've also considered dropping 2 of my 1*s as I only keep them for the deadpool daily and could quite easily complete that with IM35 alone. Is it possible to play it with just one character or do you need a min of two?

This still leaves me with a spread of 3*'s and no direction though, so where do I go from here?

From what I've been able to pick up through the forums & playing, some of the better characters I have are: Rocket & Groot, Doom, GS Widow (I think?), Hood, Deadpool & Blade. So these are where I should probably be focusing?

However I also saw that some of the characters are no longer appearing in cover packs (Deadpool, Hood & Blade to name a few). Are they likely to filter back in soon? Or will I be waiting a while before I see covers for them again?

Lastly with regards to my token stockpiles, I've been holding off on using them most of the time as I try to wait til I have either a space or points for a space in case I get a new character I want but by the time I get to that point I've usually picked up another cover or two from rewards/pve events.

Should I bite the bullet and just spend some of them in the hope of getting some covers I need for my current roster or keep holding on to them til I have space for a newbie?

If you've made it to here then thank you for taking the time to read my blithering ramble, any advice on what my next steps should be is much obliged.

Thanks

  • You've done a few great things there. Many good strategies for a new player. Specifically you don't have useless 1*s, you have a huge token hoard because you don't have the roster space, and you have 7 pretty key 2*s of the available choices (not who I would choose but if they are working for you then great).

Here is what I would advise you to do: Sell the Spiderman cover in your queue and on your roster. Roster Loki and get that DDQ cover today. He is good. Like used by a large portion of the PvP players at the 166 level good. Probably go ahead and sell the Mohawk storms as well. Not worth trying to eek out a roster space for them at this time I would say.

Then, open your 218 standard tokens. The standard tokens have about a 1/6 chance of 2* and a tiny chance of 3* (it would not surprise me if you opened them all and got 0-1). What you are looking for here are 2* covers to match your existing 2*s. Sell every single 1* cover and any 2* cover not on your current roster (or sell a 2* if you want to replace them with, say, Daken or Hawkeye). 218 tokens should get you at least 1 13 cover 2* out of the deal. Then max out that guy you got to 13 covers at level 94 from the DDQ iso and cover sales iso (hopefully Ares), and max out Ms. Marvel . Also, if your Taco Tokens are for this group, I'd open those as well, trying for Loki's or Deadpools (or I guess GSBWs). Anyone not on your roster can be sold and small chance of free hero points for roster slots.

Now for roster spaces, if you don't want to throw down 5 bucks to get yourself a couple spots, then you will want to start poking PvP events for the 400 point progression reward. 25 HPs, and whatever placement you might get should be another 25 HPs. Also, from your token opening spree, if you happen to get a matching pair of Magneto (Marvel Now) covers, you can roster them together, level him to 22, and sell him for 100 HP right now. Another good reason to open the standards.

It is totally possible to play with a single 1* character for DDQ. Personally if I still had my 1* storm tho I'd probably keep her just to speed up the clear on the first node. If you need the space you can sell Storm tho. I'd go with IM35/MBW for a while, see how that goes. Eventually you will want a Juggernaut for Balance of Power, and that's when you sell your IM35 basically. I assume you are playing in the PvE events. What team are you using for that? If you do max Marvel, and use IM35/MBW with her then yea you can ditch MStorm if you want to. MBW remains good for a very long time because she can be sent to allaince mates as a TU for a cheap tutile.png stun.

Keep your event token stockpiles until a character you have/want is the featured character and then go nuts on them. Like I'd be opening TaT tokens if I were you looking for cyclops covers. Character rotations are done by season, you can see the current one here and there is no real way of guessing who's in and who's out next season unfortunately.

    Good Luck

I agree with pretty much all of what Lerysh said.

Get Loki on your roster. He is well worth it in the long run and you never even need to put a single level into the character for him to dominate. Same goes for hood by the way, save your ISO for offense oriented characters.

IMO the following characters on your roster are painfully expendable..this is also the order I'd remove them if and when you need to:

    1) Spider-man - 1/13 - 40/40
    2) IM35
    3) ** wolverine (he's a good character but you've leveled others and he's not a must. Especially when you get Ares leveled up)
    4) Squirrel Girl - 3/13 - 45/45
    5) Mohawk
    6) Punisher - 1/13 - 40/40

Note: I don't have much direct personal experience with Squirrel Girl despite having her at level 133. She hasn't impressed me by play but a fully leveled and full covered one could be better than I give credit for. (Mines currently 552 build).

I agree with the advice to cash in the standard tokens but continuing to horde all others. Hopefully you'll make a lot of progress with your 2 star covers.

Given my priority listing above I'd keep Mohawk for now but be prepared to possibly dump her if more room is needed in the future.

Thanks so much for the advice!

So following on from that I got Loki in rotation but sadly couldn't nab that second cover from the DDQ.

Spidey, MWidow, MStorm & Mohawk are all gone, the main reason I've chose to keep IM35 over Mstorm is Cstorm could show up as the 2* enemy again leaving me no one to play the mission with. I didn't think about the MBW team up and haven't been using 1*s outside the DDQ so that was a slight oversight on my part. Worse case she'd be quick to cover again though.

I've also sold off Wolvie and replaced him with Daken as I got 6 covers from burning through half my standard tokens and I can still get the extra covers from the prologue missions. Sadly no MNMags covers but still 100 tokens to cash in.

Deadpool tokens were a bit of a mixed bag, only 1 3* (GSBW) & no hp though I did get some Ares/OBW covers bringing me up to 11 & 9 covers respectively. Also a Ms marvel cover which let me rejig her to 3/5/5.

I've also got a CMags cover now and, due to a mis-tapping and opening a heroic token, a Fury cover (first 4*!) so that's my roster full again. If I remember right there's 3 Fury covers in the daily resupply a way aways down the line so there's something to look forward to icon_razz.gif

SQ was one of my 1st 3*s that I got during her release event and I thought she'd come good fully covered but the more my roster expands the less that seems to be the case so she could end up getting dropped, hesitant to just because she's one of my higher covered 3*s. That leaves Punisher, another one I thought could be good covered up, at least as a 2*->3* transitioner if not in a full 3* roster. For now at least I shouldn't have to worry about dropping anyone else though I think I may end up dropping some cash for slots eventually.

Yea I've only been playing PvE really up til now never earned more than 100-200 off a single PvP event I think so I'll definitely have to move more into that. I assume Balance of Power is one of the PvP events?

My main team is some combo of Ms Marvel, Cstorm, MNMags, Mixed with the current powered characters, Torch usually subs for one too depending on health/health packs. Though I expect this all to change more as OBW, Ares & now Daken get levelled.

Again thanks to you both for your advice, I've given my roster a good shake up and got a clearer idea where to focus now which has got me more excited to get stuck back in start building these guys up!

I would say keep Squirrel Girl. I have found her very useful at times. When fully covered, she can one shot an enemy if lots of special tiles are on the board and the green is a pretty good board shaker.

Good point, she should be a good counter to Falcon in that respect
