roster advice

Question for some of you long timers. I'm transitioning to 3* land and have no roster space currently. I have 1 1* star strictly for ddq. I have two 2* teams that are carrying me through tournaments. The rest are all 3 & 4*'s. My question is, given the rarity of getting these 4* covers, should I even keep them on my roster at this stage or free up some space for more 3*s? I currently have stockpiled 3 3* covers and 1 4* cover that I can't add due to lack of roster size. I should also mention I am completely F2P.

Selling a "Legendary" character is a pretty bitter pill to swallow. I've sold half a dozen IW covers, and it was a tough call every time, and I'll probably eventually come to regret it. You haven't said how many roster slots you have currently, how many HP you have (and are likely to get in the immediate future), and which 4* you're considering selling. But it's definitely true that you're not likely to have a usable 4* for a good long time.
  • I have 24 full roster slots, 225 hero points and should be able to buy one roster slot soon with some progression rewards. I currently have 4* wolverine, star lord, and prof X (all just one cover) on my roster and 1 lady Thor cover not on my roster. Star Lord would be my first choice to sell if I should sell any?I have 14 roster slots occupied by 3 *s and no one with more than 8 covers, and 3 more 3*s without any place to go on the roster

I would at least consider selling a 2*, even if you plan on rebuilding him once you have space on your roster again. MMN is currently selling for HP because of the changes to the character. If you sold him (assuming you have him) it would be enough to get you another roster slot immediately.

If you're committed to staying f2p, then sell star lord for sure (all abilities countdown tiles, so even if you get more covers he's still gimmicky and unreliable) and probably prof x too. Realistically, you could prob sell xforce too, because you could play every day for a couple years and most likely still not get enough covers to make him useful, but he's the best in the game, so I'd keep him just on principle even if you can never use him.

I'm sure someone will say I'm wrong, but I'm six months in with 48 roster spots, about 20 3*s with 8+ covers and still don't have a 4* with more than 3 (and the one I have that's 3 is invis woman haha). My experience is that you can't win 4* covers without having 4* covers unless you get crazy lucky in a pve event. Basically, if you didn't start playing the game at the beginning and aren't willing to throw a bunch of $ at it, forget about it. Just work on your 3*s and be happy with that.

I'm not gonna say you're wrong. But if they ever do a 4* version of DDQ (weekly, monthly, whatever), people will regret any 4* they sold.
  • I actually already sold mags for the sole purpose of the hero points. I could probably afford to sell off 2* storm, I still have daken, wolverine, ares, obw, and Thor as my 2* teams. I suppose I will go with selling star Lord too. That would at least be two more slots. Thanks for the input.

Not sure about how you use your teams but my cstorm is not someone I'd sell easily. she is a mainstay in my big enchilada team along with mags and thor. but we all play differently and if you sell your mags, maybe that makes sense. personally I use my wolvie much less than my storm. I basically only use wolvie for LRs and initial pushes in pvps (paired with daken), and when he's buffed in pve. for a r/g/y damage guy, my opinion is that ares and thor do more and have more health and wolvies healing is only marginally useful (great for LRs and seed teams). he does pair great with daken but if you use ares or thor, you will be going after green anyways, so some strikes will be out there.

oh, and starlord is my best covered 4* and would be my first to sell if I had to sell one (between him and Elektra) but I agree with stow that it would hurt some with lots of wondering if it was the right thing. good luck.
  • I feel that storm was more negatively impacted by mags nerf than he was. She is just too fragile for my taste. Since he is gone I don't have much use for her anymore. My primary teams are obw + ares/thor or wolverine + daken. I ended up getting 250 hero points from Deadpool and haven't had to sell off Star Lord quite yet but he is next to go if it comes to it.

Selling classic storm is insanity. Party damage AND a duration stun in one power. One of the best board clears in the game. And you know even her yellow has turned a bad cascade into a win more than once. Sure you may like other characters better whatever floats your boat but she is used in 3* parties for really tricky nodes. I use her every day in enchilada too. She trivialises it. With boosts she helped me complete the gauntlet as well.

She can be easily rebuilt but arguably the best 2* in the game.

She is an easy target for pvp. I will always attack a team with her on it. The AI doesn't manage her as well. For me, she is no great loss. I think there are several MUCH more valuable two stars but as was previously said....We all have our own different playing styles and preferences.

If you never use 2* Storm, then sell her, go for it, do it. She's definitely not good for PvP. If that's your main thing, then it's a no brainer to sell her. I see 2* Storm on a team in PvP, and I see an easy win. But she's hugely useful in PvE. If I had to sell every 2* but three, I would keep OBW, Storm and Ares. And Ares is a distant third. But advice on 2* characters is always a little fuzzy and weird, because there's "2* characters that are good when you're playing at the 2* level," and there's "2* characters that are still useful even after you've moved up." I'm still using 2* Storm in the current PvE against level 300+ goons.

Just as a point of comparison, because he's just had a PvP and he's boosted in the current PvE (and I'm annoyed that he wasn't given a buff when he came out of the vault). 3* Iron Man has a blue deals 3130 damage to the entire enemy team and stuns one target for two turns. It costs 20 AP, plus two AP of every color. 2* Storm, for just two more AP, but not draining two AP of every color, deals 3676 damage to the enemy team, and stuns two targets for four turns.

But as said, she can be rebuilt if it's a matter of making room on your roster for rarer characters.
