I'm in slice 5 and hanging around 450 points, this is one extreme of the battles I get, outside of the aforementioned maxed out IM 40, X-Force Wolvie and Lady Thor

  • I kinda get the whole idea behind fighting in your own weight class, I do. It defenitely makes it a much longer slog, and if these pvp changes are going to stick then making a few quick runs to scoring points just to be able to tap T100 in your average event is going to be much harder. That in itself is rather annoying after you've put all the work in to get to a point where T100 is supposed to be a relatively easy thing.

What I don't understand, however, is why after fighting my 3 'free points' seed teams, I immediately get matched into max'd xf/hood combos? Anyone? Cause while my 235xf and 95hood can take them on, it hardly seems like a even matchup. It feels a lot more like an uphill fight, losing defensively once every few matches, and losing manually about 1/4 because the AI loves to rain XF's colors on him while constantly destroying your healing tiles. 5 in one match and getting hit with a 5 cover ballistic salvo just before winning. Yay, so fun! No, no it is not. I already disliked the pvp system, but this is so much worse. I wanted to work on maxing xf/hood, but now I rather wonder why even bother. Maxing XF is going to throw my pve scaling even higher, and at this point doesn't look like it'll help my pvp play at all.
  • Ranked in the top 100 with only 300 points. With that much points that usually puts you in the top 300

I'm seeing some benefits to this new system, hope this is consistent to finally be able to get some 3*s coming my way.

The problem is the soft climb after your gimme seed teams. It almost feels like a lightning round in that sense, where you see probably the hardest teams you're going to face right at the beginning of your climb. However, once you move beyond the soft climb (which I define as below 500 points for this event), it seems the higher tier matchups are the easiest ones being offered by the AI.

Normally, you would think it'll be the reverse, where the max 3/4* teams begin to show up when you're pushing for top 100 placement, and the easier targets would be available before that. To me, the MMR Hell has dropped a few tiers due to the change in MMR formula. For players not accustomed to facing MMR Hell, this change is VErY discouraging.

here's my personal experience in the IM event. Fielding a boosted 201 IM40/166Patch/166Laken, i got 2 seeded teams. Then faced a xf/goddes team on my third matchup. Skipped that, and started fighting 3/4* teams right off the bat. Got hit 4x while in the low 100s on the first day. Retal'ed to break 200. Went to bed. Logged in again in the morning and saw I got hit 6x. Reminder, this is w/ a max patch/laken/201 IM40 defense. Retal'ed against everyone and broke 300 on day 2. Pushed to 450 and slapped my first shield. Went into shield hop mode from there.

I expect to end my IM event at around 800 or so, and at least 2 kamala covers. No shot at top 5 or 1,000 points for this event. icon_neutral.gif
  • So in my last-minute bracket, I managed 9/456 at 456 points. Although I did see some high level(I only have 2 166 characters so I'm calling anything 125+ high even though I could fight them) even at 25 points. Luckily, it seems like the system boosted 2* players so I was able to fight them for good point totals. The gap from 300th to 190th was very small, I guess that's where people encounter a wall/level and/or roster gap.

So this experience was good, but I can see why others are frustrated with only finding 166/270 opponents from very young point totals.
  • I shielded at 641 and I'm done with this garbage. Assuming they don't change anything for the next PVP, I'll start a few hours before it ends and see what I can run up while I'm in the car in Slice 5. I suspect the answer will be my worst score since 2013, but that's about as much effort as I'm willing to expend.

My roster worked nicely against what I was matched up against. I lost a couple matches, but fought on nevertheless.

If this is how it is going to be, it looks like top rosters are going to get "punished", which I put in quotes because it means they're having an experience closer to the rest of us.

I fought for over 500pts in a few hours and shielded up for the remainder and will at least get T50, and possible T25, and I'm plenty happy with that over the previous season for T200-T300 places because I couldn't get beyond a 400pt wall.
  • I actually got into the top 100 with my 94 max roster. I like the change. Didn't run into 120 + teams like I usually do

I had to grind out from 450 to my final 641. Was using a IM40 (~160), XF 454 (235), Hood (115). It was a non stop grind from 550 onwards where I won one, got hit for one - eventually pushed through by winning faster than the hits coming in but it is not even close to being worth this amount of pain. I kept getting repeatedly hit by the same 270s who were probably dealing with the same **** from 650 to 700...

I placed a ticket asking for every single cover in the event plus my average amount of points from last season.

If I don't get it, I'm out. And I'm taking my money. They're gonna overpay for aggravating me as much as this piece of **** event did.
  • Obviously all the changes are aimed at the new players, maybe telemetry tells them that's where the money is? (although I very much doubt it). Veterans have to either fight it to the death in the grindfest that PVP has become, or leave. Thank you very much Demiurge.

But think about it - was it fair to 2* players to be hit by maxed 3/4* teams before 300-400?

That never happened to me before 300 with a 2* roster. Now I have some decent 3* what I am seeing is 94 players at 45 points very early on. Think earlier I hit the same people a few times. Very fast climb. Good for me, bad for the game overall but as a new player why should we care I guess. We will max out our characters quicker. I guess it will suck when we are the vets and the changes don't suit us. Oh well I'm too into my own self to think that far ahead icon_rolleyes.gif

I'd say as with pve it is now not recommended to level your characters past a certain point. Not to mention don't spend money on the game. I no longer need to.
  • I did not receive my individual rewards lol I'm 18 out of 500 lol

after reading all of this, I'm not sure what I should do. my current plan was to push Lthor up to 166 and Loki up to 130s and use them for pvp but if I'm going to be rewarded by seeing an early wall of 166s and 200s, maybe I hold Lthor at his current 140. once in the 400s my enemies regressed from 120s-150s all the way back to 94s. easy wins but none worth many points and even against 94s after a long run of wins, I still ran out of health packs. was an easy top100 which is all I care about for now. I need to finish covering thor (currently at 4/3/4) but might hold him where he is for now...

I got Daken/Blade up to 166 and worked fine for me(daken tanking, no real health pack depletion)
