Scarlet Witch, and probability powers

While unannounced, I'm sure we'll see her in the game sometime around or after the release of "Age of Ultron".

I was thinking about tile probability the other day, and, to loosely paraphrase the recent Q&A video, "every time a new tile falls into the screen, the computer rolls a dice to determine its color".

Scarlet Witch's "hex" powers are all based around altering probability in her favor.

Would it be interesting, or potentially OP, to use her introduction to create the game's first mechanic affecting the colors of newly incoming tiles?

i.e., if Scarlet Witch's powers are redflag.pngblackflag.pngpurpleflag.png --

Probability (PASSIVE)
- every new tile falling into the screen has a [x%] increased chance of being red or black


(this could also potentially be a countdown tile instead of a passive, which would keep the increased probability on a limited duration)

    In the realm of her probability powers, I was thinking a passive that would give a small pecentage chance that match damage from the enemy strikes an enemy's teammate instead. At 5 covers it may include power abilities as well but that might get confusing

    I could see something like this in regards to CD tiles or maybe even other special tiles. Representing the weapon backfiring, the healing going badly, etc... However, I think they have been trying to steer away from %'s in abilities so maybe a flat change. Something akin to Moonstone's power, only more useable.

    it could be something as simple as

    8AP--Does 2500 dmg
    Lvl 2--has a 25% chance of doing an extra 500 dmg
    Lvl 3--has a 33% chance of doing an extra 600 dmg
    Lvl 4--has a 60% chance of doing an extra 750 damage
    Lvl 5--has an 80% chance of doing an extra 1000 dmg

    Hex could also be like a combination of Squirrel Girl's green and Mystique's blue. Drop a countdown (or multiple with additional covers) every time the countdown ticks down a random basic tile changes color. It could stay random (any color becomes any color) or you could start constraining colors with covers as well. There needs to be some kind of kicker when they finish counting down.. damage seems appropriate, but having 2-3 additional tile swaps happen also could be legit.

    Another valid (but it will be wildly hated) option would be for her power to have a completely random effect. Burst healing, targeted damage, AoE, swapping tile colors or positions..

    Another Hex option that just struck me (and that I might like)
    Giving her the ability to reach into the enemy's power set and force them to use an ability might also be fun (I'm thinking MtG "Word of Command"). She is playing against Thor, she gets enough AP and she is able to fire the enemy Thor's Thunderstrike, but against another member of the enemy team (or possibly even Thor himself). If you went full "Word of Command" she would spend the enemy AP in the process of using the power as well.

    You are thinking right now that the AI is not known for sitting on AP, so the way this power would improve with additional covers is by allowing you to use powers that they didn't have enough AP for *yet*. So say with 1 cover she can force a power that they are 1 AP short of being able to use on their own.. by 5 covers she could force them to use a power that they were 3-4 AP short of being able to use.

    This almost sounds like a 4* class power if she is able to do something like that though..
  • Keep in mind there was some ongoing discussion where Joss Whedon said his powers wouldnt be the same in the movie, so if its based on that one, who knows lol

    Yes, in a recent interview the actress said the her powers are Telekinesis and something else, citation needed. Probably telepathic too.
    I would like to see a power using TK, rearrange the board maybe. Some telepathic power, based on what we'll see in the movie. And last, a high cost power, homaging her lore on the comics, something like Reality Warp, or something. Maybe this last one be the board shacker, and the TK one being a low cost direct damage.

    I'm curious to see what the devs will make. I expect her to be debuted in a month, or else, RIOT! icon_e_wink.gif

    Even her powers in her modern form are so far removed from "hex/chaos" powers. She basically can do anything she wants as long as it seems spell-caster-ish.

    Seriously, she had two babies with a robot. I'm not sure what the probability is for that.

    I love the idea of an ability that just does something random. Like, maybe it could just spin the wheel of all possible powers in the game and let one fly. I'm not sure when or if I would activate such a power, but I would feel cooler having it.

    She should get a tile changing power that isn't color constrained. Not sure how expensive it would need to be to be fair, but she should be able to transform a selected tile and some number of additional random tiles in the same color to the color of her choice.

    As for Telekinesis how about something like you select a tile and X number of the same color tiles move to it. Tiles would be randomly selected.

    You don't change any tile colors. You just "pull" other same colored tiles to the one you selected.

    From a mechanics standpoint it just a tile swap, but the effect is basically you get a big cluster and match whatever. Also, would cause cascades.

    The power may even up the tile damage if the "pulled" tiles are matched.

    Something like:

    Telekinesis 6 AP: Select any basic tile and 2 random tiles of the same color are pulled to adjoining locations. Match damage increase 25%.
    Level 2: Match damage increased 40%
    Level 3: 3 Random tiles are pulled
    Level 4: Match damage increased 60%
    Level 5: 5 Random tiles are pulled, increase match damage 100%

    uhmm her powers are probability but she can completely control them. so its more like shes genie she can make anything happen right.

    like she could want a boat to lift out of the water so it does?

    I had given this some thought as well, and came up with the following:

    redflag.png Probability Control
    Active power, creates a hex tile on a random location on the board. As long as this hex tile is on the board, all matches made have a 50% chance of doing critical damage and a 50% chance of doing exactly 1 damage. Leveling up this ability will increase the chance for critical damage for your own team and the chance for 1 damage for the opposing team.

    yellowflag.png Chaos Shield
    Active power, creates a countdown tile on a random location on the board. As long as the countdown tile is present, all powers used will affect a random target. Leveling up the abilty will increase the duration of the countdown tile, increase the chance of a power affecting a target on the opposing team, and at max level exempt your own powers from being affected.

    blueflag.png No More Mutants
    Active power. Active blue powers cannot be used for X turns. Leveling up the ability will add one other color per level and possibly turns to the duration of the effect, and at level five the ability affects all 6 colors, although blue is affected for onze turn longer than the other colors (this to avoid permanent lockout of opponent's powers).
