Seriously? I thought there might be a few new panels of this story or something. Nope just buffed PvP that literally means nothing unless you know about the crossover. And even if you do, you just play a normal PvP.

Does this lead into a black vortex pve afterwards? Otherwise seems lazy as all heck to try and appease marvel execs.

At least the week long buff experiment is over and there is a bit of variety in the PvP event.

Aiming for a Blade cover or two.

Forget about story, we have buffed beast - we're approaching a new age of beast-bombing!!!!

Tokens dropping featured characters or 2*'s only, similar to taco tokens

Lazy as all heck is D3's motto
  • running deadpool/xforce/thor because my buffed characters are super low.

might be hard to get up in that top 5 with this one.

Total odds for something better than 250 iso is only 12%, which makes those tokens some of the worst we've ever had.

I get that there is some disappointment that the mysterious new event is just a regular PVP, but they never said it was going to be different. It doesn't deserve to be judged more harshly than any of the other off season PVPs. Maybe they decided not to announce anything beforehand because it wasn't a big deal, but that backfired because the surprise element raised expectations instead.

I like the idea of story event PVPs such as this, even if the only connection is the list of buffed characters. We get some variety in PVP matches, and the sense that the characters aren't just randomly chosen. The characters are buffed for only this event rather than for a whole week. So those who don't have the right rosters only miss out once, and not 2-3 times in a row.
  • I love this PVP. I am putting 0 HP into it. Already have Blade, don't care about storm, don't care about fury. Nice break.

It's stupid easy to climb without being handicapped by a loaner featured char.
  • Is anyone actually using the buffed characters? I have storm, Cap Marvel, and R&G all max covered in the 120-140 range but they seem a bit weaker (even buffed) than the Thor/Daken/Cage I've been running.
  • The dumb thing is calling it Black Vortex and having no reward related to that comic event
if it gave Star Lord or even other Guardians/X-Men covers it would have made more sense
    Different naming, same old ****

I look forward to play a bit with Star Lord but nothing else, total skip

I've been using my Maxed Captain Marvel and Rocket & Groot, plus my 153 (plus boost) Gamora. Since I'm not really using those 3 in PVE, and they're pretty good boosted, they work ok. Not a great combo but an annoying one, and I don't need the prizes. Plus I want to save my A-List for the PVE. I'm only really pushing during PVE downtime, so this likely won't be my best PVP - I'll only use health packs if they won't impact PVE, for example.

I don't understand the disappointment for this pvp. It's not like we get any special panels for Combined Arms or Balance of Power or the Women of Marvel Pvps.

Shouldn't this event have been in February? They did the women's one in March.

I don't think there has ever been a PvP that ties into a story arc, much less a current one. Considering we rarely get new content, this would've been a great chance to introduce a new source for storylines.

Agreed. To me, this event was a meeting with Marvel that said to D3 "we have the Black Vortex crossover coming up in the comics, make an event to reflect this crossover." So, instead of a PVE or something, which I think could be really cool, we get "well tinykitty, let's just amp up the characters from Black Vortex and do a PVP. It meets the request of Marvel without much time or effort." You could literally just have this be a normal PVP and the boosted people for the week were what they gave us here and there would be no difference.

BoP, women of marvel and the like at least have a central theme that can be explained in the event menu. For anyone that hasn't heard of the crossover, this looks like an terribly crafted event that put guardians and xmen together for no apparent reason.

This crossover needs a little more description or interesting mechanic to be a PVP, otherwise it comes off as lazy. Even a Black Vortex level that does something weird like amping up damage but now including a self damage component or something for any ability used. I haven't read the crossover but make it somewhat like the "corrupting" nature of this thing as it is described.

Put me on that list of people that didn't know that this was an actual crossover! So color me disappointed!

They could've just called it 'Marvel Fighter' and that'd be more of a story than currently is in PVP.
  • I am seeing lots of Captain Marvel lineups out there and some other creative ones like two unleveled 3s (Loki and doom) and a maxed Grocket.

I'm running a maxed lineup of Grocket, Gamora, and Hood, which has worked out well so far. Lots of powerful strike tiles between Grocket and Gamora plus her red power takes out a lot of guys.

I also find Gamora's green can actually be useful if there are only two enemies left.
  • Crazy how much easier this game is when you are not handicapped by 2 v. 3
