One of the game's most interesting dynamics on the way out

Not intended to be a complaint, just an observation.

Disclaimer: This is from a player who hasn't played Thor regularly in at least a good 2-3 months, and has *never* mained Wolvie.

That said, I'm not sure if it was intentional, but in the old pre-Ragnarok nerf days, this game used to have a very subtle strategic conflict in the game over red tiles/AP.

On one side, you had characters who desperately wanted to match & collect all the red tiles on the board (Thor, Ragnarok) to collect the red AP for abilities.

On the other side, you had characters who desperately wanted to keep as many red tiles on the board to be used for special tiles (Wolvie, Daken, Doom).

Due to the extreme popularity of Thor/Wolvie on the same team, most of the time, Thor/Wolvie players would match as much red as they needed without really paying attention.

But every so often, matches between a predominantly red AP-using team vs. a predominantly red special tile team would turn into a really, really interesting tug-of-war where the struggle was to either match out or preserve all the red tiles on the board.

It was an unstated fact that red AP was the most important color in the game, which may seem unbalanced, but it was also the focal point for this very subtle but very interesting conflict.

With the changes to Thor and Ragnarok, there aren't any truly threatening red AP abilities in the game at the moment with a combination of low cost/high effect. (New Wolvie's red is pretty damaging, but the AP cost is very restrictive.)

This means that the tug-of-war dynamic between red tile matchers vs. red tile keep-on-the-board-ers has been swung pretty decisively in favor of keep-on-the-board-ers, especially now with characters that practically litter the board with special tiles (Patch, Punisher).

I'm not even sure if the original dynamic between matching red tiles vs. keeping red tiles on the board was intentionally designed(?) or just an accident. In any case, I always found it to be one of the most interesting things about the meta and the overall game.

Either way, with the new changes, this nuance seems to be gone from the game now.

Just pointing it out. Thanks.
