Powered-Up Characters and what they mean to PVP
With this wide variety of powered up characters now introduced to PVP, I have exceeded my previous high scores, and by a lot.
I have also been able to get to 1K in two straight events. Before these changes, I was a 750 AT BEST player in pvp. Now I ask myself, is this one of the methods that D3 is implementing to ease the 3* to 4* transition? This kind of guarantees a 4* every 2.5-3 days cause you will be getting to 1K per event. And you don't need a 270 XFORCE or a 270 4Thor (RIP) to get there.
Could this actually be a good thing? Or has D3 forced us back to "outside communications" in order to place well during each event?

As a 2*-3* transitioner I find the change worse. I used to have an advantage over 2* only teams, as I should, but now if they have the boosted 2* they can beat me. (this may only be because Ares is boosted this week)
So for now I'm gonna say I do not like the change. The hard work I've put into getting covers no longer matter unless I have the boosted characters of that week.
I understand it was to create diversity in PvP and I guess it worked (Less XF and Thoress, least I saw less) but that diversity only goes so far. Once I got to a certain point all I saw was Patch and Loki or 3* Thor and Patch (for higher end PvP I expect Fury was used often)
So It is more diverse. But people will just choose the best boosted characters for that week (unless they are really terrible) and use those characters all week.0 -
do you have every 3 star max? cause days when you dont or more people have them max its going to be harder.
if they kept powered up I would like to have the entire Season mapped out ahead of time like
Week 1 XXXX boosted
Week 2 XXX BOOSTED
week 3 XXXX boosted
and so far not just a shocked out of the blue0 -
I can see what youre saying but here's the thing:
A different roster every week is a lot better than the same roster every day in regards to Roster Diversity. But I do understand that 2-3* transitioners might be getting the worst out of these changes. Then again, vets and heavy hitters are also as there are more and more people at the top, making the grind so much worse.
I just wanna see the overall reaction to the idea of the powered-up characters making the 3*-4* transition easier0 -

That's a guarantee. For example, I don't have a rag so I know my next event will be hell. But in terms of transition, I got 2 4* characters in less than 5 days. I also got 2 extra 3* covers and I haven't calculated the ones that i'll get from the 3* Daken PVP. Overall, I was able to get an influx of characters with this change. I know it won't sustain every week/ every day, but it will help someone all the time. And I like that idea0 -
I have a maxed Nick Fury and haven't even touched him because he's outclassed by the 3*. He's basically the second best 4* now so what's the point of a 4* transition if you will never use them?0

even with the boosted people this last PVP is going to be harder then the last at least for me since i had tons of items stockpiled so using the boosts i save i could even kill a high rank ARES in 3 to 4 rounds0 -
While pushing in Laken PVP I was wondering what the powered ups will mean as well. Its probably partially due to Laken not having any big damage (more of a chipping type char) but scores seem to be lower for my bracket. Im used to being in brackets where top 10 is over 1k with 12 hours left....at 10 hours we had one person over 1k and T10 was below 700. Not sure if its good or bad.
Another factor is that the health pool goes up when there are 3x maxed boosted chars and its just going to be slower to climb, let alone hop.0 -

10 hours is too much time to evaluate or project how the top 10 scoring will end up. *IF* you still have 10th place at the 700s by the end of the event, then maybe the boosted roster can be pointed to as a factor for the lower scoring.
In my bracket, top 10 is *already* 1,000 points, and we still have 7 hours to go. It may be your bracket that's the issue re: low scoring.0 -
For my alliance mates perspective, a lot more of them got to 1000 points in Daken than usually go for it. The ability to go from Patch/Loki to Thor/Hood to finally Thor/XF does save on health packs, even if having to fight other boosted teams costs a couple health packs occasionally.
Overall I have liked the boost program. Rewards deep rosters, anti P2W structure. Good times. And XF is still valuable, just not the end all be all.
Top 5 in Daken in my bracket was over 1300 points, so no I don't think scores are being lowered.0 -

Your post is lacking a lot of detail. Such as the teams you used that couldn't reach 750? The teams that reached 1,000+? And how much you spent on shields?0 -

Here are the answers to all those questions:
I used the same team that I've used since I started getting 600: mix of 3* LThor with BP or Hulk. But my shield spending was higher for those events then any other event ive been part of. The only difference that I saw was that I was taking down 270 xforces paired with high level characters0 -
