Roster cost issue

D3, you claimed that DPD was your answer to the roster cost issue...seriously? I have cashed in two tokens for 250 each since it's inception. You have released three characters, at 700 hp a pop. If DPD is your solution, then you need to drastically increase the drop rate of HP vs 2* characters or STOP releasing so many characters.
Or you could consider the easier solution of simply capping out roster slots at a maximum of 400 hp a slot or whatnot. I don't mind spending real cash to get HP for covers (and heck, the rare deck at my bday or something), but basically requiring 1400 hp a month atm to collect the characters is absurd...and that cost is only going up as my roster increases. And please don't say that you don't need to collect the characters, because all the essential nodes and featured characters say otherwise...and besides, people play a game like this to collect. So help us collect characters you create and let us spend HP on other things.

FWIW, we're on 74 tokens after today, so the expected return to this point is 962HP. (13HP per token)
That you only have 500 HP means you've been unlucky to date. Anyone who has hit the 1000HP is ahead of the curve, ditto anyone that's pulled 4+ of the 250HP.
Now, 962 is still < 1400+ needed for 2 characters a month, but it's possible to earn the rest from PvE/PvP/Daily rewards. That's where their idea that the DDQ helps alleviate some of the pressure comes from.
It's not a perfect solution, but it's certainly a (highly variable by user) boost to the economy.0 -
LOL, I haven't had an HP pull yet. I do have 28 taco's still hoarded though.0

Personally since the start of DDQ i pulled
1000hp x1
250hp x4
I dont think i can complain but at the same time, I dont think a feature that relies on good or bad fortune is exactly a helpful feature to ease the issue...0 -
Another option is just to sell off characters
I had a full roster, but i wasn't using many of those 1* & 2*
Bagman, Yelena, Moonstone, pretty sure Bullseye was featured once since i started playing, probably in a **** Heroic
I wasted all of them, and i have 49 heroes (all 3* and 4*, usable 2* and 1*) and around 15 free slots, no more drama
They already demostrated that they dont want you to use every single character, you can't play a Gaunlet with the combination you think its more fun, and they dont plan on buff but nerfs, so that seemed like a good solution to me0 -
Don't forget that there are a bunch of HP rewards in the prologue, too. It's dull work grinding to get them all, but money's money....0

Yeah i literally lol'd when he said that in the monthly video. I've gotten 250 HP. Thats all and I've done almost each DPDQ.0

I've done all DDQ events and opened all the tokens. I've got 250 HP onces. I guess I am way bellow the curve0

The odds will eventually even out. It's just variance. But it's true that over the long haul, you'll get 13 HP per token.
I don't see this as a problem. Along with the HP that's available in daily drops and in events (especially PVE subs), it's pretty easy to keep up with roster slots if that's the only thing you spend HP on. I find this reasonable, as DDQ covering 100% of the HP needs would make roster slots essentially free. I find nothing wrong with having to earn things in the game.
But agreed on selling unused characters in the short term. I have a high-end F2P roster and I only have 51 roster slots open. I'll probably buy the next one, because I have plenty of HP, but 2* Cap is also primed to sell, as I haven't touched him in forever. Also sold 2* Wolvie a bit back.0 -
Roster slots seem to be an important source of revenue for D3/Demiurge, you can tell they're not willing to change
the system at the moment (go watch the previous Q&A video to watch them dance around the question).
I have bought very little HP over the last 8 months but I can still buy roster slots on a regular basis. But now they're at 700 each for me
and it's starting to become silly, I won't gain enough HP to keep up that pace eventually.
Just cap the cost... seriously, it is very simple and you're still gonna make money.0 -
I don't know, maybe I have more disposable cash than some people, but for the same price as a fast-food meal you can buy a roster slot instead (assuming you don't want to play enough to earn the HP) and that hardly seems onerous. I've never spent any real money on slots and every now and then actually have excess HP to buy an especially-elusive *** cover.0

Don't compare food with gaming, it is two different things.
17.99 euros for 2900Hp will allow me to buy 4 slots at 700 hero points, right?
For 14,90 euros, I can buy myself a DLC for a FPS game like Battlefield. In Battlefield (just an example) , It's generally about 4 new big maps to play in, a new game mode, new guns and accessories and 2 to 4 new vehicles....
Charging so much only for characters slots is ridiculous.0 -
I think this is a pretty serious (and growing) problem that will have to be addressed.
The character release rate is very high, and the roster slot costs increase infinitely. So doubling the number of characters more than doubles the cost of rostering everyone. That sort of exponentially growing financial pressure doesn't seem sustainable. I would like to see the roster slot cost price capped, or at the very least see the rate of price escalation reduced.
Roster slot prices do seem to be an issue that the devs are watching as they recently reduced the price of the first 25 slots (perhaps the number of new players that were sticking around long enough to buy slots was dropping off?).0 -

Except that's 35 days - and three characters have been introduced since then. You'll only get 60 tokens for every two characters released, and roster slot HP cost isn't going down - since they STILL haven't leveled it to 500HP each or something reasonable. If you still have one of each character, I think it's up to 850 once you add Khan - so you needed 800 + 800 + 850 HP = 2450 over the last five weeks. OR you could just buy a 4* COVER!
The cost of roster slots is still the biggest issue in the game and needs to be addressed. Shoot, I think the devs mentioned their CEO thought it was a huge issue.0 -
I have never spent cash on this game, and currently am sitting at around 6k HP. I have every 3 star and 4 star, and quite a few 2 stars. I have been playing just over a year. I threw away 1k HP a couple times in the past month to get to 1k points in the pvp events to get much wanted covers. I also bought one 4 star cover and one 3 star cover with my HP. So I really don't see how you can complain about not having enough HP. You should have plenty if you are only using it to buy new slots and a 3 hour shield at the end of pvp.0

For $7 you can buy lunch, two cups of fancy coffee, or a roster slot - most people drop $7 almost every day without thinking twice about it because they like to go out to eat or stop at Starbucks on the way to work, so why all the angst over spending the same amount on a game that is going to last a LOT longer than the next trip to the bathroom?0 -
As I said, I don't mind spending money on the game, but with the character rTe, slots are getting ridiculous. We shouldnt hab to get rid of 1 or 2* even if we dont use them much. There are other ways to make money here.
Increase 3/4* drop rate from packs and ppl will actually buy them. I just bought my first few covers today. I like doing those things, but knowong you will be shelling out 1400+ hp a month to get new chars needs looked at. And nothing exciting about adding that slot. I LOVE opening my 10-pack.0 -

You don't like FPS games, OK. but like I said, it's just an example, I could have taken another non FPS game like Sim City or whatever. It's doesn't make my point less valid.
And my point was to make you think about how much time and effort
Is involved in designing NEW artworks, story line, creating Levels, testing game modes, designing 3d models, launching the product etc...
And comparing this to... Increment hero points by N, which in development is basically adding +N to a variable.
Weeks of work for a full studio of artists and devs in one case, making creative work...
Versus 0 seconds of nobody's work in the other case, since you're.adding yourself your hero points by just paying for it.
The cost, ( and the price) in one case is more understandable than in the other.0 -

And again, no one is forced to spend real money on roster slots - there are more than enough opportunities to earn HP for two new slots each month if you're willing to put in the time to play. If your time is worth more than money, by all means, buy the slots, but don't then complain about the "value" of those slots - you've made that decision already.0
