Need Help With PvP

I jumped into the Army of One event on the first day and pushed to 510 before running out of health packs. I am using the following heroes:

166 Pun 5/3/5
166 LThor 3/5/5
154 BP 5/3/5
145 GSBW 5/4/4

For the first few matches I used 50's leveled heroes as they were seed matches. Once the opponents got to 94 I went to the heroes listed above. Once I hit 510 I shielded for 24 hours. Upon logging back in last night , every node contained opponents 166+ and every match had at least one 250+ hero in it. I tried two nodes - won one and lost one - and needed three healing packs. Am I supposed to be able to beat those nodes with my roster?

It feels like I can no longer advance in this event. I would think with my heroes (esp a fully leveled Pun) I should be able to get higher. Should I be going at the early part of the event differently? Different time slice?

Any help would be most appreciated...

I have a similar roster to yours, and I only start seeing level 200 plus opponents at around 600 points. They'll show up, but I just skip them. Everyone seems to have different experiences with this. What I do differently from you is join the event much later. I push to 600, sit unshielded, then push again and shield at three hours (eight if I know real life is going to keep me away from the game). I'm no elite PvPer, but I'm happy to be able to get T50 and occasional T25 rewards without a lot of effort and a net HP gain.

Wow, all the way to 500-600 before seeing maxed 3 and 4 stars? My wall starts way lower than that... (like, 300), and my roster is way worse than the OP's.

I don't know what to tell you OP. You should not have problems beating the **** MPQ AI with that roster. My highest level character is 130 and I regularly take down teams that you seem to be struggling with (although I do try to avoid 166 -> 249 featured character rosters such as yours). This event should be a walk in the park for you. icon_e_wink.gif

When do you join events? Is it right away, or do you hold off? I've long felt like I got an advantage out of joining in the last 24 hours. I think it's just a more populated field at that point. There's certainly no disadvantage, since I wasn't going to shield-hop anyway.

Like I said, I do see maxed 3*s. But I don't hit the "wall" until around 575 to 600. You hear stories about people getting it at 300. I have no idea what the factors are.

I would have thought so - maybe I am doing something wrong. With Pun - LThor - GSBW, I have all but Blue covered. I will prioritize Pink, Yellow, Green, Red - basically driving towards multiple "Call Of The Storm" attacks - I do tend to ignore denying the CPU colors as instead I drive for my own. Maybe I need to focus a touch more defensive. I will say it is amazing how often the CPU draws multiple matches and cascades vs how often I do, and it seems to need less in a color than i do to kick off an attack (second turn using its team up power has happened to me numerous times). More often than not, I will have no matches to help me on a board (only match is a color I don't need) so I take it and the CPU runs a cascade into another move for me with colors I don't need. The longer I play in a session, the more consistently it happens.

In the end I guess maybe I need to play more defensively.

When it comes to choosing opponents, should I be willing to choose groups with a pair of 166's and a 60 of the features hero? Is that a matchup I should be able to win? Are there 4* that are still very beatable even if they are in the 200's?

I love the game - most enjoyable - just hate the VERY SLOW grind through 3* so trying to get better and make it easier. Thanks again for any help you can offer...

Try picking teams that are very similar to yours, that way building your AP denies them theirs. Adjust your priority based on the enemy roster - very few enemies have effective cheap purple powers, so you probably shouldn't be prioritizing it. You can go up against a 200ish X-Force as long as his black isn't fully covered. Because you will be focusing on killing him first and denying him green. Just make sure he isn't teamed up with a Hood or something that will feed him.

So it is the way I am approaching it - the thought on Pink priority is 4 matches sets up GSBW's power that will generate a lot of green - which feeds into "Call of the Storm" by turn 5 or 6 which can decimate a team quickly. So again - I am thinking offensive - and not necessarily thinking about my opponents and how I match up - very good to know...
