Another One Bites The Dust

I hate to make this one of those "I'm leaving and here's why" posts, but I'll keep it short and sweet.

I've been with an alliance since their creation (alliance2014), and I've done my part for the majority of the time. I became a commander, and it eventually merged with the 5D alliances and we became 5DeadlyToxins. During this last version of the Hunt with Prof X as the reward, I was asked to change alliances so we could guarantee the top players get their rewards, and so I stepped down as joined Venoms for the night. I was a bit bummed that I'd have to leave and miss out on Prof X, but I was the lowest on the list, so it didn't bother me too much. After rejoining the alliance this morning, I was not returned to commander status and told I needed to "play a bigger role."

So, I realized there was no friendship or loyalty (or whatever you want to call it) anymore in the alliance, so that's what broke the camel's back. All of these upcoming changes, thinking about jumping in and out of alliances for rewards, I just don't want to deal with it anymore. It's just not fun.

I did enjoy the game, and played it more than any sensible human being should play, always trying to get those rewards, but I now know the fight is pointless. I'll never max out my roster or come anywhere close, so I'll just take it easy now and I'll see what comes of it.

If someone wants to pick up where I left off on the MPQ Roster, feel free:

And if you want to update the wiki, that would be a bonus, because I know I found it useful on many occasions.

  • You play the merc role and this is what you get.

There are plenty of Alliances that are there just to help each other out.

    Dat 4* reward structure.

I'm sad, you made a kick-**** spreadsheet. Good luck with everything!

First, I'm sorry to see another player quitting. But speaking as a commander who had to deal with potentially hurt feelings when it came to bringing in mercs, I think you need to see it from the other perspective. You said you were "bummed you had to leave and miss out on Prof X"; but the reason you had to leave was because if you stayed, it was likely NO ONE would've gotten Prof X. That's not fair, especially for the people who had been grinding their butts off for a week. As unhappy as you are now, they would've been even more unhappy if all their hard work and been for nothing.

He wasn't the freaking merc and there's no need to be rude to him for this. Shove off.

This wasn't his complaint. He gracefully stepped aside so the alliance could get their rewards, but his reward for doing so was essentially a demotion and a slap on the wrist, he doesn't need more strangers berating him for making that choice.

Good luck out there Price, hope you can go relax for a bit.

He may not have but his alliance was, and for being in an alliance that plays the merc game this is what happens.

I do not see any where I was being rude, however most of your posts I have seen are in that territory. I will not shove off, I belong here as much as any one. Thank you very much.

That is the attitude I was talking about.

Or you can also definitely forget top 100 and join a genuinely friendly top 250 alliance icon_e_wink.gif

Sure, top 100 alliance rewards drastically speed up your progress in game and sometimes when reading this forum I envy top 100 players
... but most often I'm relieved to just play the game with other friendly people without stress or reprimand for too low score icon_e_confused.gif

It pretty easily read as rude. "you play the merc role, that's what you get" can't read that any other way. It reads like exactly this:

"you deserve whatever poor treatment you get becuase you were out mercing for a cover"
  • C'mon, man. That's not how it went down and you know it. I am in said alliance and there are many holes in your story. You were easily the lowest scorer in our alliance for PVE despite being a commander and knowing the minimum requirements set by the alliance leaders. To be replaced for the event, which you willingly did, your commander status needed to be removed. Thank goodness for the rest of the squad leaders for finding a replacement for you which gave us a top 50 finish (we were around top 20 for the entire event until the last day and the mercs started to fly.) After the event, the other commanders reached out to you offering the commander status back to you, but with certain stipulations (ie. being more active in chat, in recruiting, etc.) The decision to leave was entirely your choice, not the alliance. I have nothing against you personally. I don't know you. But I felt like the truth needed to be told in order to maintain the alliances name and reputation. Good luck in your future playing experience.

Believe it or not, that is pretty much exactly what he said. Just from a slightly different angle, highlighting different details.

Basically, he realized the Alliance seemed to be focused on "making the score" and was less of a family to him and he didn't want to be part of it. He admitted that he chose to leave.

He didn't fit. And he knew it.

EDIT: Is there a Mod that happens to be in this Alliance or something? Because this is the first "I'm leaving/quitting" post that I have seen moved out of General Discussion.

EDIT Part 2: So it appears that they are now moving them here as a matter of course? That is new.

    1) I was not the lowest scorer in the alliance, granted the last few I have been towards the bottom.
    2) Essentially telling me I need to "earn" a status I had already earned by being more active is a bit of an insult. I was probably the only remaining member of the original alliance (there might be others still around in the other 5D alliances, but I'm not sure with all of the swapping).
    3) Yes, the decision was mine to leave. I enjoy playing games, and I team up with people that I enjoy playing them with. I don't "have to win," but sure, it's nice. Being in the 5D alliance didn't feel like that, it was a chore, or a responsibility, which I don't want to deal with when playing a game.

We have a minimum. You weren't near it. You were the bottom by a clear mile. Despite many requests to communicate via in game, line, Facebook, and being silent throughout, it seems to me you only moved out at the last moment because it was clear we weren't going to get the cover dragging you along and perhaps your conscious kicked in.

His complaint clearly wasn't related to having to leave during / at the end of the event lol
