MPQ Video Club: Is this really appropriate timing for this?

Jamie, you are a great friend of mine and an awesome moderator. None of what I'm about to say is directed towards you in any way sir. I respect you very much. Nothing against David Moore either.
Regardless of mischiefmakers incredibly meaningful post about changing the PVE reward structure (181 upvotes) being ignored I am still not holding my breath. It is what it is and I am shocked it's received no attention from any red names. But ok let's move on.......
Then we get the "Atomic Nerf Bomb" dropped on us out of nowhere. I'm not gonna comment too much on that but we can all agree it's extremely significant to the community. Leaving many upset and confused in its wake. Still no communication or interactive Q&A from any devs. A lot of retirements/rage quits/debates etc. Ok now im getting frustrated but let's move on.
I now realize the irony that during March which is Women's celebration/Appreciation month...... A strong, dominant and incredibly powerful female hero(Thoress) has been significantly altered for the worse. I find that pretty degrading and in poor timing to women ( I was raised by a single grandmother ). So yeah it's safe to say im pretty F'ing angry now at all this drama.
But now, we get not one but TWO posts plugging this video club business. It's too soon Jamie and David. Not many of us want to see this now and I find it to be in incredibly poor taste and feel extremely exploitative of an already burnt out and worn down gaming community. The timing could not be worse.
I am politely suggesting you and David Moore put this on hold for a few weeks until we get bigger issues resolved or at least acknowledged by D3.
Thank you Jamie and hopefully this didn't come off as another rant but I had to get it off my chest.

Hey man I don't disagree with everything you've said and I know there's no ill will behind your words. I'm just going to comment honestly about a few things where I feel I can add some info based on my very limited knowledge.Jonny1Punch wrote:Regardless of mischiefmakers incredibly meaningful post about changing the PVE reward structure (181 upvotes) being ignored I am still not holding my breath. That's why your the best Jamie...... Always a class act.
I appreciate all of your responses and actually agree with most.
Not gonna debate the nerfs because you know how that goes.
Refunds,ragequits and tantrums lol.
Thanks again bro.0 -
I can't comment on the video. I won't be participating in it. I like keeping MPQ separate from my real life, even most of my Internet life.
I think in the case of the PVE thread, probably any staff can't make a statement without sitting down with the company and getting a consensus. If you're demanding them to come in and say, "I'll share this around the office," I think it's a fair demand. In the thread, it seemed like some were asking a single employee to address the points clearly in thread, which I can't imagine he could without putting himself in a precarious position.
I really don't believe anyone on here actually care's that it's Women's Appreciation month as some argument as the nerfing of 4hor. The two were unrelated. There is a thread here of people complaining that art by women is not appreciating women because they hate the new Spiderman art (an exaggeration, it was just a bunch of posts, but still... faux-politically righteous anger about game art is shameful). It just sounds like an excuse to complain rather than any sort of real concern.
No matter what, with the complaints that have been here this week, it will take a lot of in house consultation, and some look at actual statistics (as in, high level players are dropping out, hp sales are going down) for them to tell the difference between an extremely vocal minority on these forums complaining, and actual problems in the game. I'm sure they'll address it all, but I think they first need to figure out what the heck they're going to do. Once the nerfs go live, I think if the complaints keep up, they might well adjust 4hor blue down the middle: charge 8 blue.0 -

i don't know it took 6 months to analyze that 4 thor needed a nerf do we want to suffer that long to proved that she didn't need one that much or do we try to nip this in the bud and save our selves 6 months of headaches.0

Seems appropriate enough to me.
- They recently added DDQ
- They've just added a new popular key character in Professor X
- They've balanced the game out to be more friendly than ever for the lower tier
I don't agree with all of the nerfs either...but taking my personal opinion out of the mix and looking at the end result objectively in terms of the status of game balance now...things unquestionably appear more diverse. Sure, PvP will be dominated by a single duo speed team but the viable secondary options are really starting to shine through.
This is a marketing campaign designed to entice NEW players to the game. Many of the recent changes have been very positive for newer players even if the 1% vet player base is currently dissatisfied. I say currently because we've been through this before several times with other character nerfs. It doesn't last. Vets will adapt while a couple will move on.
To those who say marvel now mags is useless I just want to say that I completely disagree. He's still an AP battery that works well with other characters. WInfinite will be dead after the nerf but it's hard to justify the existence of winfinite combos being a positive part of this game to begin with.0
