Is it safe to come back to the forums? (post nerf announce)

I realize I'm in the vast minority here, and am currently working on gaining covers for my 4Thor as they become available as 1000 PVP progression rewards (currently 2/1/2), but overall I don't see that the nerfs were that bad.
The big hit I think was MNM of course, though I really haven't been using him as much any more. My GF uses the CStorm/MNM combo all the time though. Mystique makes a couple less tiles for 1 more AP but her other powers are unchanged and still deadly. Iron Fist makes a couple less tiles but at the same cost. 4Thor's Smite is increased and the overpowered Power Surge is now just powered, but can still pack a punch. Even studying Ragnarok seems like he could be interesting to play, although not by just watching what the AI does with him. Speaking of AI, he's become a different sort of challenge in PVE but at least he's not jumping out of the bushes all the time smashing the center columns, and now his red doesn't directly feed into his Godlike Power.
Of course, I also thought that True Healing was one of the better changes that they made. Before that you couldn't throw a stone without hitting an OBW, but now I think the game is better for it. I had to hold out for a while on Shield CD's but am leaning towards that being beneficial as well, since now I can actually reach the lowered progression rewards.
I guess I can understand to a point why people might be upset after spending money on 4Thor and IF, etc, but only to a point. I'm kind of torn on that subject. I'm also on the fence about them being 'robbers' and all the other names they've been called. They're working to try to balance the game and fix things. How many times have I read in the forums that all people run into in PVP is XForce/4Thor? Well, now that combo is just a little bit more beatable.
For the record, I only spend money on HP to get roster slots and shields. I've never bought a cover or ISO (well, except for those daily Anniversary singles). I just hope people can take a step back, sleep on it, and re-evaluate the changes and not whip into a mob frenzy with pitchforks and torches.
Also, don't hate me for my opinion.
Cheers!

Not quite safe yet, at least in the general forums and character discussion threads.
I think the anger over 4Thor is most justified from the top tier alliances who fought over 3 seasons to get her covers. MNM still looks usable, just using red attacks more than blue. Windstorm is a rare power that does 5500 damage for 11 blue, 550 dmg per AP + 4 turn stun, for a 2*!? The combo was always overpowered, but take away something people have been relying on for many months and of course they'll be angry, even if it is good for the long term life of the game.
I can't understand people being so upset over Xavier's 'nerf'. He wasn't even frigging released yet. It almost feels like some people are trying to throw a tantrum to get their way because it works for them in real life.
Even it won't do anything in the long run, I swear I'm this close to searching the forums for 'slap in the face' and downvoting every post with it0 -
Sure, it's safe...until the next red announcement Friday afternoon.
Just to point out, it looks like you're most upset about the character/combo you got the most use from getting nerfed, and surprise, not the one you've no experience with. Just like I thought the MnMag change looked good, but hated the change to Thoress. Goes both ways I guess.
Yeah, they have the right to change the game as they please, but the carelessness with which they do sometimes is getting old real fast. I really dislike that the only further communication since the announcement was from Demiurge_Miles, and none of it about Thoress. Very concerning.0 -
Man, I agree with you alot man. I do think people blow this way too much out of proportions. I get the nerfs were a little harsh, especially the one to MMags since I'm still a 2 - 3 trasitioner and i'm a f2p player, but overall, I get what they're trying to do.
I still think it's better than just leaving this alone and never touching on the topic.0 -
It's never going to be safe again.

The kudos I give to them this time is they put it out on a Thursday afternoon, so the community could respond. They used to drop all bad news at about 4:55 pm Friday afternoon.
Of course, I think the one post by Miles was the only response Friday...so it's not like dropping it Thursday and then ignoring everything everyone says is any different than dropping it on Friday afternoon and leaving for the weekend.
To OP: I think folks have mostly been accepting different opinions, even if they don't agree with them. I haven't seen to many greatly downvoted ideas, though against-the-grain aren't getting many upvotes either.0 -
And at least they told us about the updates before hand. There used to be a time where they never communicated information ahead of time, but they will never be able to please 100 percent of their customers. They have slowly become better at making changes to the game for the better, but it does bum me out when the forums get all depressing and sad.0

Just to try to explain the outage over gthors nerf... When you're near the top of PvP land you see max xforce and max gthor everywhere. The easiest way to combat this is of course one of your own. Typical games go like this... Match green, blue, red, sometimes needing black too. Xforce (and sometimes surgical), downs the featured, surge 4hor, smite xf, collect reds and blues, maybe stun again, eventually smite 4hor down.
Post nerf, surge then smite will only deal like 7600, leaving xforce on 3k life. So you'll need an extra xforce, then on top of that with so many fewer charged tiles it'll be much harder to keep stunning 4hor or get enough red to kill her right after. IMO not downing xforce is the bigger issue but maybe others have more issues. Anyway, just thought I'd help you and maybe others understand.0 -

Yeah, I know what's at the top, I gather 1000 points if I need to, without 4Thor. When I run into XForce, 4Thor, featured, I take out X-Force first and either 4Thor or featured next depending. I haven't need a (cover maxed) 4Thor of my own, but would like one. And anyway, everyone will have the same level (or max level) 4Thor. I thought the rage was about having spent money on something and then that something changed.
Also, I wasn't questioning why the outrage, I was trying to put a different perspective on the nerfs to quell the outrage...0 -
While it's true that a maxed out Goddess Thor can make the pvp game easier (especially by discouraging attacks), there comes a point where the player has to attack these max featured/XFW/GT teams to get some points beyond a handful (I kid you not on this). Usually I win those matchups (using 180 xfw/166ldaken/featured), but sometimes I lose to a lousy board. The point is if you have a decent roster, and you can no longer use GT effectively in pvp, you have to figure out a way to adjust and come up w/ a new strategy.
Personally, I think a maxed out Luke/IF/featured is scary.0 -
Thanks for the negative, kthunder, and the question in your your rating that I can't reply to there. You could have just posted your comments in the thread.
Suffice it to say, just because I don't have a viable 4Thor, doesn't mean i don't understand the game mechanics about her or haven't played against her.0 -
Still not safe. Stay in your bunker. Keep calm and carry on.0

Considering that I JUST locked the True Healing thread a few weeks ago...0

Yup, this is one that cracks me up.
Thanks to turul, we know he was switched from triple passive to double passive + his active which still has a passive. So he was changed before they even pre-released his numbers, which comes with a disclaimer right away that says (paraphrasing): "These are pre-release stats and still subject to change."0
