I have a fantastic new idea for a new 4*! :D

Currently my favourite characters are Cyclops and Mystique! They have awesome skills and perky booties! And that Devil Dino dude is pretty awesome too, I hope they make his covers available again soon because my Dino totally wants to get out there and chomp some enemies! But let's get back to the point.

What if we have a character with Cyclop's red skill and mystique's purple skill? 4k nuke for 10 red ap! Stun and ap generation for 8 purple ap! Pretty shiny right?

Plus, Mystique's masterstroke is amazing! Get extra damage after using her purple? Do want! How much total damage was it, about 7k or so? Let's give my new character that too! Red gets some extra damage if you fire purple first! So as not to get things too confusing, let's change her purple to blue, increase the cost a bit in exchange for a longer stun, and toss in a few charged tiles instead of steal.

oh right, we need a third skill. Daredevil's radar sense is pretty rad, let's just slap some aoe damage on that. Who cares about countdowns? Those silly Muscles and Snipers are a piece of cake.

And just for kicks, give the character monster health like Dino, not quite, but my new darling will definitely take a licking and keep ticking.

Never mind that those are all 3* powers, 4*s have an extra star and are therefore shinier by definition.

So we have it - for the Women of Marvel month we'll make the new character female and call her MYSCLOPS (DAREDINO).

Wait, what do you mean they made that character already? I'm sure they stole my idea! Whoever heard of a lady Thor?

All right, seriously in what universe does it make sense to make a 4*, which is rarer and takes exponentially more iso to level, have skills that are roughly on par with a moderately good lvl 166 3* when the 4* is at lvl 270? Why would anyone even want to bother?

Is this D3's solution to the problem of 3*-4* transition? Make it so nobody wants to transition to 4*s?

Disclaimer: I do not have a usable 4Thor. Nor have I tried particularly hard to get her. But I do think 4*s should be clearly superior to lesser rarities in order to be a prize worth pursuing.

Disclaimer 2: I want IW even in her current state. Why will IW not grace my tokens?

Be careful what you wish for, I could have two 5/0/0 IW by now if I hadn't started selling the extra yellows. She is a fickle one.
