Okay, so in the new realm of 280s:
    • XF/4hor is too slow (4hor ineffective vs. buffed 9k+ health targets).
    • Patch/Hulk tanking priorities are screwed up sometimes (like Torch and Daken pvps with Patch boosted)
My default "best pair" prediction has switched over to X-Fist, but it may be that the true BEST might still rotate along with the pvp buff cycle.

One person sample, but yeah, I didn't see Fist once in that PvP. Based on teams I faced/skipped, I'd say 3Thor/Hood was considered 'best,' but I suspect in Daken's event that will move to 3Thor/Loki, for full rainbow and a counter to all the strike tiles generated when matching green for Thor.

You think? With Daken featured, this would be a good debut for XFist, Fist purple into a sea of black for massive SS damage could be huge, but probably not enough. AI could almost pull it off themselves too, but yeah, buffed pairings may overshadow this strategy considering how good the buffed characters are this week.

I'm not saying XForce/Fist won't be more prevalent in this event compared to Hot Shot, I'm sure it will for reasons you stated. If I had a decent Fist (mine is 3/0/3 icon_neutral.gif ), I'd probably bounce between the two.

Thor/Loki/Daken has no overlapping powers (which means AI can't really screw it up), and Loki should be completely hidden (I think), which will conserve health pack usage offensively. Plus the combo has roughly a 9k health advantage over XForce/Fist. That's a lot of benefit without much downside.

Only downside is speed, really. XFist is incredibly fast, especially if you can get an early double cast of IFoKL and a friendly strength color.

    I put
    XForce/IF,4hor and Mags

    Patch/Hulk

and opted for other with Xavier/GSBW and X-Force/Fury

I think we are going to see a bit of variety until things shake out a bit. While Hood will probably be up there as well, I just don't see him as dominate as before due to so many X-Force.

Now if the last PvP is any indication, all bets will be off since you were able to run a few cominations to relative success.

Thor/Loki wasn't exactly slow in Hot Shot. Full boosted R/G/Y/B, 2 yellow matches was often enough to get started, and maybe need 1 green behind it on a now green-heavy board. That's 19k damage right there, 11k to the first character. That leaves XForce dead and Fist with 4k left. Daken will be regen which complicates things,

Thinking about strongest colors, Daken Black and Loki Purple would feed the machine here. But Thor's red offers no help, and if you're someone like me (where Daken is a bit underleveled relative to Thor), that's what you get on first Surgical. You're going to then have to spend time collecting purple/green and/or letting the board regenerate red somehow to finish the 11-12k that Thor still has left. Should still take some time, even with strike assisted Fist. Especially when you can't match-4 reliably with Loki around.

To the bigger picture, at least this is debatable. Without the boosted (key) extras, there is none.
