Public PSA Announcement - PvE needs to be managed, now that-

All the reliable PvE teams have been neutered.

StormNeto? Not with only 3 blue tiles, you're not.
Winfinite? Enjoy the 3 turns it'll take you to build up to like a double turn.
ThorVerine? Still somewhat manageable, but you're gonna have a harder time perma stunning or one shotting.

This is fine - all these things actually needed to be addressed. My complaint (err, this isn't really even a complaint thread) isn't with fixing problem heroes. All of these changes are actually pretty fair without being overly heavy-handed. But now a new problem has arisen - these strategies surfaced and bloomed because PvE can scale out of control or even just begin at unmanageable levels. Once these problems became the forefront of our focus, we kind of forgot how crazy Pve is. Now that we've removed this problem...we're back at problem número uno.

The largest factor affecting scaling is performance. Combos like winfinite caused high scaling, not the other way around.

You're both right and wrong at the same time.

Performance is a major determinant in scaling, but not the sole. Community scaling still is a thing, and if you're using 3/4 stars very often at all, you'll end up seeing 395's unless you're willing to spend an hour and a half slamming low star heroes into Deadly Nodes to bring your scaling down.

The part where you're wrong is in saying winfinite and the like caused scaling. Crazy scaling has been around for a loooong time. It's not a new thing that's just recently surfaced as a result of combos like these.

If you don't believe me, just play the rest of the Hunt with a 2 Star roster and try and gauge where you get scaled out, then swap to your 3's, then repeat for your 4's.
  • After their introduction in enemy of the state, I thought that survival nodes could be used to bring down scaling a bit by providing a challenge without having to resort to 300+ level characters. I wish they'd revisit other events and use them instead of jacking up juggernaut to 11 to take us down a peg...but have my doubts that they'd want to go and change things now. They seem fairly comfortable riding out the tide.

Scaling is a 'problem' that impacts players at ALL tiers of play in order to make PvE a balanced mode of play. It's far too soon to assume that these character changes will throw of this balance in a negative way.

All we know now is that nodes will be more challenging for just about everyone.

If this leads to a situation where 95 of the top 100 players in each bracket are 1* to 2* transitioners then maybe further balancing is needed. For all we know, it'll continue to be a relatively nice mix of all player tiers.
  • I think everyone who have some of the nerfed characters deserves a reduction to PvE rating. If I got my PvE rating way up because of Mystique + Magneto, I don't want to suffer through a few events of beating before my PvE rating drops to where it is supposed to be post-nerf.
