Can someone explain the 2*-4* transitioners?

I've seen a decent number of opponents with less than 2 3*'s, and sometimes even none, but a full 270 Thor and sometimes even X-Force. Are there really that many people just dumping loads of cash into this game? Or am I just really, really bad at PvP? I mean, I like this game a lot, so if this is the case, I'm glad that D3 is raking in the $$$, but I'm worried that the difficulty I have getting 4*'s means I'm doing something wrong. (1k points is doable, just very, very hard, and requiring some luck)

Pretty sure its investing some serious cash. Even with some how getting fully covered there's still all that iso to get.
  • 2* players often have ISO kicking around because getting a decent number of covers on any one 3* hero is difficult, meaning they don't have anywhere meaningful to invest it. Spending HP on covers directly is a way to get a usable character to invest that ISO glut into.

XF covers come fairly early in the daily rewards so, even without earning any covers directly, people can get their hands on one of each colour.

If you are going to invest HP (possibly bought with cash) into a hero why not invest it into someone who is both powerful on his own AND someone you will use forever (at least in the current structure of the game) rather than spending, admittedly half as much, on a 3* that you will supercede with a 4* eventually and is less impactful as a high level hero working on their own (since you don't have the 3* covers to make 1 hero you are obviously not going to have the covers to make a second to keep them company).

I can see why ppl do it....

Lol do you know how much iso is necessary to get a character to 270?

Those people buy hp and iso. All there is to it.

Iso is way easier to get than the tin-hatters would say. If you're trying, it doesn't take as long as most think.

You absolutely don't need to buy iso. Maxing a 4* is less than 450k iso - you can earn that in a month.

Especially for the 2* people who don;t have the 3* covers to level even if they wanted to
  • Cash dumpers.

    Or hackers.

I prefer to think they're cash dumpers.
  • Yeah if i didn't level so many 3*s my 4*s could be looking pretty good by now. Buying the covers for a low level x-force and you have a monster if you are still competing against 2* teams. As far as the iso, same as leveling 2 3*s to get x-force up to speed and from there you have a pretty decent tool to earn more rewards with.

Iso is not as big of problem as it seems, I raked in 40k yesterday alone. Now that won't happen most days but even a few like that will put you well on your way. 450 is doable every month but def a grind.
  • A level 70 cover max x-force does slightly less than half the damage of a 270 one. Now imagine fighting level 70 enemies all day with a 1/2 power x-force. I think you can earn a little bit of iso like that.
