Anyone else notice this trend in new players?

A deep roster will still win out in both PvE and PvP at the end of the day.
Of course a loaner is more attractive than a maxed featured character but at that level it's mostly just the points that matter. At 900+ i take on any team as long as the points are good - and i don't have a usable goddess yet.0 -

I do the same sometimes with a grouping that people severely underestimate. Captain Marvel, She-Hulk and Classic Storm (Storm when pvp characters allow, definitely in Sim, otherwise featured, Marvel, She-Hulk). They're not going to win defense against anything serious, but a surprising number of mid-range rosters pounce on them and lose.0 -
Druss wrote:(at present) only things that count is how quickly you can level your X-Force, & because ALL battles are featuring him now, how much HP am I willing to spend on shields.
Gone are any tactics or decisions on which hero to choose, gone are any battle diversity & to be honest, gone is any point of battling for a new character which will sit on the shelf watching X-F wipe everything.0 -

Also, he's Jaime Madrox. You'd be surprised how many defensive wins he gets that way too.0 -
There's no point in leveling 3* attackers. As a 145 day player, I maxed Hood/Loki. Every resource from now on goes to Xforce/4Thor. No point in playing the middle game when you just get annihilated by the top game as soon as you stick your head above ground.
3* would help with PVE, but I don't have the heart to grind and schedule RL around MPQ anymore.0 -

So why do you play then? Just to play the match 3 game? If there's no point on leveling 3*, what's the point on even competing for them?0 -

Not sure yet, but this is a very interesting question. I will let you know in 1 month once I have my Xforce built.
I'd say it's 50/50 you lose interest like many of the vets, or you can easily acquire mass 3* covers so you can actually have fun with Cyclops/etc and enjoy the game that way. It looks like MPQ is about to unleash 4* game so I guess that's the next time killer. I think all of us are hoping MPQ figures their game out eventually and makes it so players can actually utilize multiple team variations instead of the same two players. I think that's why we all started playing this game; to form a bunch of different marvel teams and throw them in a cage to see what can happen.
I'd say with 4* you are actually able to compete for 3* - which is really fun. With 3* teams, you are just fighting for crumbs - which is demoralizing IMO considering the time it took you to even max cover a single 3* in the first place.0 -

I find I'm in a different but simalar pickle myself, which is why I ask. I'm about ready to quit, and I have a pretty decent 3* roster and a fully covered lvl 235 xforce..that's how wide the GT gap is. I can barely squeek in to top 25 anymore, and can't compete for GT covers I need. Last progression award there was one I tried, and hit 1000 twice but was hit for 50 as soon as I got my blue cover. I'm not bitter about that, but with more 4* and rotations it'll be months before I'll have a chance to get my 2nd blue from a progression reward. And last time I was lucky it was cage match and I had maxed patch/laken/blade. I find 900 near impossible as it is. Then I ask myself....when I get this mighty godess what next? Luckily Prof X drops, so that would be the next carrot to chase. If it was another electra I think I'd maybe drop out off the alliance and play very casual.
I do know even if I had GT I'd eventually bore of playing only her and xforce just as I am bored of fighting only them after a point
I love the MU, and I love having a time waster to pick up on a whim....that's why I'm here still, even though progression is pointless and stagnant.0 -

If you have a full-covered X-Force and a pretty decent 3* roster and aren't able to hit 1k in PvP with any consistency, I can see several potential problems.
First could be, and perhaps is most likely, that your 3* roster isn't as decent as you think. Do you have top-tier characters (Black Panther, Thor, Hood, etc.) and are they leveled up? You can kinda sorta get away with a rinky-dink Hood or Loki if they're built right, but if you don't have that kind of support for X-Force you're gonna need someone else with a decent punch to back him up. I get away with a 153 Cap (and only 2 blue covers!) because his combo of punch and utility but I would certainly recommend bringing a good-to-great 166 along for the ride.
Second could be your coverage for X-Force is off. Again, I get away with a 4/5/4 X-Force because Surgical Strike is that damn good. I am very much looking forward to getting that last green because up until the full 5, X-Force isn't anything particularly interesting. The bottom line is that if you have max covers but 5 yellow without 5 black, The Best There Is...isn't. He might be a strong support character, but not the unstoppable juggernaut the 5/5/3 build is. Also, you might consider spending the Iso to get him to 270 regardless. Scarecrow factor can help some, and the talk of crazy PvE scaling is merely a dragon in my experience.
Third could be how good your featured is, which ties closely in with the strength and composition of your 3* roster. Having the featured guy at 166 can make the whole affair measurably easier. Even level 100 or so can make a big difference if you have the right coverage. In the current Sticks and Stones, I'm running Cage (4/4/3) at level 110 and he hits like a truck with the boosted levels. Conversely, during the Lethal Intent event, although I ran Gamora at level 120 it was still harder as Gamora kinda sucks.
Fourth could be your overall strategy for PvP. Hitting 1k without a 4* like X-Force is an exercise in careful planning, with or without a helpful alliance. You need to be sure you have a clear plan for when and where you will be shielding. You also need to utilize your time shielded to queue up high-value targets, because as we all know that once you hit the 700+ range even the full-on 270 Xor teams are fair game for anyone with the gumption. You need to get your two to three matches in as fast as possible and you need to get your **** shielded again. Making sure you can scoop up 100+ points each time is critical. Exponentially moreso if you're running a sub-par team.
Anyway, sorry for the wall of text and all. And sorry if that's bunch of advice you've already heard. It's just something that I learned and am actively working on as I try to build my 4or. Hope it is of help to you!0 -

i really dont know what went wrong that made pvp hard to clear, also i like to compete for 3* so i can compete for 4* so i really dont know the struggle of getting 4hor but i can say theres been times where i almost had top 5 but kept losing. its a hard game, and like you said even with a maxed xforce getting covers isnt garrunteed0
