Coming back after some time off, any advice?

So i played alot about a year ago (rip infinite blue mags)
Alot has seemed to have changed. i have been reading around at the new characters and the new reworks, but the meta shift has been a big one, it seems.

My roster is:
4*:
1/1/0 X-Force
2/1/0 Invisible woman
Dino, elektra and star lord all have 1 cover.
3*:
3/5/5 Lvl 166 Punisher
5/4/4 Lvl 146 C.mags
5/5/3 lvl 139 Patch
5/2/5 lvl 102 Grey suit Black widow
4/1/4 lvl 94 Hulk
5/4/0 lvl 83 Doom
5/5/2 lvl 80 The hood
5/2/2 lvl 69 human torch
3/3/2 lvl 68 Black Panther
5/5/2 lvl 63 Daredevil
3/2 lvl 57 Rag
2/4/5 lvl 40 capt
3/3/3 lvl 40 Falcon
4/2/2 lvl 40 psylocke
3/2/3 lvl 40 modern thor
Loki, Spider man, Iron man, Daken, Deadpool all with 3 or less covers.

2*'s are basically all the usual. Bw, thor, ares, daken and such. mostly unnessary now i have enough 3*'s

I'm sitting on 30k Iso, i just wasn't sure who to sink that into.
I've been reading that The Punisher has fallen out of favour a little but due to strike tiles not being the 'go-to' abilites anymore, mags still seems very good as well with patch, i have been running those 2 and hood in pvp teams and seem to be doing alright.
There also seems to be alot more events running at once these days, should i focus on either pvp or pve or should i try and dip into both.

Any advice at all to help me get back into the swing of things would be great.

  • Deadpool Daily Quest will be good for you. Otherwise, the basic format hasn't changed very much. If scaling happens to be low in PvE (it'd be obvious if it is after you you make a few passes) you can stick with what you got for PvE. Otherwise PvP is domianted by Thor and X Force at the top and you should try to work your way to those characters. The team you got should be able to win against anybody, but whether you can climb well is another question altogether and your mileage may vary. Do consider invest some HP when a good 3* cover shows up at the 900 progression mark if it's at all reachable. Unless you're paranoid about impending nerfs, spending 2500 HP on X Force's green/black is quite worth it if it's enough to get either skill to level 5.

The Punisher is still quite powerful but due to inflation there are characters that do more damage outright. At the top it's rare to not have the game decided by a single 4 match move so there's not much need for a move that takes several turns to do its work. Note that decided doesn't mean you win, but a Surgical Strike or Smite on the right guy/color and there's pretty much no way the other team's going to be able to come back from that barring a miracle.

The Deadpool dailes seem really good, huge amounts of iso and a guaranteed 3* cover? if im reading it right.

Climbing through Pvp's shouldn't be too much of an issue, its just finding a team that can win quick enough for me to efficiently shield hop.
The thing when i was playing before was that X-Force covers weren't very competitive, so it was relatively easy to come first and score a cover for him when the pvp boosted a main character i was using.

Hopefully getting to 1000 isn't too hard, there was a time where it was very get-able to get to 1100 each pvp that came up.

Im thinking ill just drop the 35k iso i have unto hood to get him to ~100 or so

Those times are long gone. You can't bank on an easy 1000 without a useable Xforce and 4* Thor.
Using Patchneto won't do the trick.

Shield Cooldown shrunk scores first, but it was really the introduction of DDQ that crumbled scores. Now you can't find many 2* teams past 400 nor many 3* only teams past 800.

Hulkbombing is probably the safest (read: quickest) way to shield hop for a 3* team in the current environment. You'll be very vulnerable to blowback though, so you have to be quick about getting your shields back up. Your Patch and Hulk aren't too far off being usable for Hulkbombing.
  • I'd max out magneto so you have 2 lvl166 characters. It doesn't matter that mags isn't cover optimized, coercive field can win you games on defense (in 3* land). Patch needs 5 yellow to be useable, his main strength is his healing and mass strike tiles (at a cost of enemy strikes)
