Too much lag since last update

Few hours ago the game was fine, but after the last initial update there is some problem with animations and transitions.

Everytime I do a match, use a power or when a new window pops up, the game freezes less than a second and continue the animation. Also there is some input lag when I try to do a match. Its like playing against Daken and Bullseye every single match, annoying.

I've restarted the phone and the game several times but no results so far.

Phone: HTC One
Android: 4.3.63
HTC Sense: 5.5
API: 5.65

Should I send a ticket ?

  • I've had a similar problem. Just very, very slow.

Right now I was leveling OBW (50 to 60) at half speed due to the lightning animation being like it was skipping frames too.

I'm having the exact same problems on both my iPhone 5s and my iPad air. Makes the game extremely difficult to play
  • ive got the same issue on my tablet nexus 7.
  • A lot of lagging here too. Motorola XOOM/4G
  • Cross posted from General, but this seems to be an appropriate place:

Confirming lag during match ups and when skipping (as the opposing team "slides" down the screen). Curiously its not happening on enemy match-ups, only when I make a match.

All as of R46, Thursday 23rd Jan update. Hardware is Nexus 7 (v1) running Android 4.4.2.

    Android 4.2.* , me too
  • I'm experiencing the same thing on my iPhone 4S. Sometimes it seems to get better after I've played for a while, but sometimes it just stays terrible: skipped frames, slow response times, and general lag.

Not too hopeful this will get fixed soon, as the hung-up daily rewards situation has been going on for more than 3 weeks, with no word from the devs.
  • Edit: With the update today, most of the slowdown is gone. Still seeing light slowdown and frame dropping on my own matches, and when skipping opponents.

Same experience on my Ipad Mini.

Started after the 46 update. The two areas where it's most noticeable are there's a pause/frame rate slowdown when matching tiles, and it's very obvious when Skipping a battle. Character animations seem a little laggy also, but not as severe as the other two.

I cleared out all my running apps and rebooted the ipad just to verify it wasn't some other app interfering. No change.
  • Same horrible skipping symptoms here caused by the latest patch, manifested today, same places as described by my fellow users:

Samsung Galaxy S3, Android 4.3, both on wireless or mobile data
Samgung Galaxy Tab 3, Android 4.3, both on wireless or mobile data

My suspicion is that with the upcoming "pay for skips feature" the devs put in some kind of handshake for each skip, sending the skip details or some mock ISO transaction back to the server so they could get better metrics on how to implement this feature (which is definitely not for maximum pissed-offed-ness impact). It's probably the result of putting in the framework for the feature and they made the actual deduction of ISO dormant for the time being. I guess if each skip is a transaction from now on, and transactions cost resources on your device in terms of network transmission and reception. I just can't wait to CONFIRM each skip transaction - oh joy icon_evil.gif .

Whatever you guys at Demiurge did, it's slowing down the skipping interface AND causing my matches to slow down. Unless this was a deliberate decision, this should have NEVER gotten through QA as-is - this is an unacceptable, pervasive regression in the smoothness of your UI on my Android devices. If anyone in QA at Demiurge sees this and you didn't find this in your staging environment, please modify your test cases to catch these kinds of issues before they hit the field and make us think there's something wrong with our devices. I can only imagine how many reboots (nope, rebooting doesn't fix this one) ensued today because of this. If this waaaaaaas a deliberate decision, I understand weighing the potential benefits of gathering skip data vs. a graphic performance degradation, but I am strongly of the opinion that the player's experience should be paramount. I hope there's a voice in your ranks that speaks up on our behalf and gets this resolved quickly. Please do not release features until you get the performance issues worked out.

Now... where'd my fishnetted BWO go off to?

  • My iphone 4s has ridiculous performance issues now since the last update. Things slow down so much you can see the animations break up into segments.

I'm glad to see I am not the only one having this problem. Since R46, the game is now a chore to play. I am running it on an iPhone 4S with iOS 7. Lag when the player match tiles, lag when using powers, lag when leveling a character with ISO-8, lag on skipping battles.

As someone who has quite happily poured hundreds of dollars into this game since it launched, I will not have any hesitation in cutting ties with Marvel Puzzle Quest if this is ignored. It is completely unacceptable and I really hope it's not a result of someone with decency leaving the studio and it getting greedy as a result.

This pay to skip measure Pentagoon speaks of feels like a dark cloud on the horizon for this game. It is an amazing title, but greed will kill it. My message to D3P is don't ride the dedicated community too hard or you'll lose everything you worked so hard for!
  • I can confirm the same lag on my Nexus 7. This particular issue makes the game significantly less enjoyable to play, and should definitely be addressed.

Same thing on my Nexus 4, Android 4.4.2. Super annoying.
