Bitter taste of lucky pull

So if I take DDQ + Taco tokens I have to admit the inflow of useful 3* covers improved by hundreds of percent. I got some lucky pulls out of Tacos (I would say I got 20% golden draws). Last night I also opened season 10pack and I was astonished. Got covers for CMags (needed), Doom (needed) and Elektra.

And that Elektra cover was somewhat bittersweet... I tried playing with her during her events, I liked her moves, but I never got any cover for her until yesterday...

I have 1225 HP, which I kept for maxing mr CMAGs or Panther, but now I have that dilemma. Should I invest to slot in order to keep Elektra or should I sell her and keep HP for maxing my CMags...?

I don't have any 1* left to sell. I have just few 2* fully covered left (and I am not going to sell them), I even sold MNMags, Hawkeye because I wasn't using them much etc... I have many 3 stars occupying the rest of my slots (I have sold those I did not like nor enjoy playing with - such as Daredevil or Beast). So basically I have nothing else to sell to give her spot in my roster...

Yet it is extremely tough decision to make - should I buy her a slot knowing that I won't be playing her for another XY months until I gather covers, or sell her and keep HP for investment with much more significant short and mid term ROI?

oh you evil MPQ, this is the kind of puzzle that I always fail to beat...


around 6 months ago I stood before same dilemma with Nick Fury and I chose to give him the slot... since then I got in total just 2 more Nick covers... so yeah, I might be better selling her off

i feel your pain. thankfully i didnt fight to get elektra or starlord and dont regret one bit not having to buy roster slots for them. im also "fortunate" to not have gotten them in packs for the same reason.

that being said if i hit one in a pack, id bite the bullet and open the slot just for the long-term and who knows, maybe theyll do a dpd for 4*s one day. certainly i would do that rather than buying a single cover for a three star that will come around in dpd eventually.

they have made it so that you simply cant, or shouldnt anyway, spend hp on anything but roster slots now unless youre drowning in it.

interesting thought, yet I know how buying cover for Hood changed my 'ingame' life and because I enjoy playing with CMags I assume it's going to bring me more 'happiness' in the short term then having useless uncovered Elektra in roster... but I am not 100% sure and that's the dilemma

some time ago i bought two key covers with hp, hulk black #5 and patch yellow #5. both improved them in game substantially. i hit both in packs within the next 10 days.

this was well before dpd and if i had to do it again now with dpd in play, i would have just been patient and waited for it.

Short answer: NO.

Answer: Don't even think about it...

<If you're still not convinced> answer: Elektra is some niche average 3* star, but she needs much more resources than 3*.
Her purple is only good against Daken and Blade, but they make her red obsolete (BTW bad char design from developers...),
her red is ok and black is rather defence-oriented skill - and such abilities in this game are (usually) worse than pure offensive.
Invest your HP in CMags or BP.

Personally I make a spot for every character. Even if they aren't great right now, I'll get more covers eventually and I wouldn't want to regret selling someone if they get reworked and are suddenly amazing.

Option 3: Buy a slot and save it for Iron Fist.
Iron First appears to be a top tier 3* character and WELL worth the character slot investment.

Elektra is basically useless. She's weak even by 3* standards as I'd honestly rather use Daredevil over her. Her red seems cool but it's very slow. 1000 damage a turn for 10 AP isn't great especially when Captain America does 4000 every 3 turns for just 11AP. His tile placement is more reliable to boot. The only way you'd truly regret selling her is if D3 buffs the character.

Note: You made the right choice in keeping Fury. He's not a popular 4* anymore but he's still a VERY strong character when covered even without many levels. I started using him with my 3* teams as early as 2/3/3. Now I have him as a 5/5/3 build and play him whenever I can't use XForce or Thor.

Why don't you just buy a slot? Sounds like the solution for your problem is 5$.

I would not have such dilemma if I thought that spending 5$ for roster slot is a good way to go.

Especially after reading some replies in this thread about Elektra I actually start to think that 5$ for her roster slot would be bad investment.

the thing is every problem in this game can be solved by $5. then five more dollars, then five more dollars, then five more dollars...

i understand not wanting to throw money at every problem and its really interesting seeing everyones differing opinions and why.

but if you re-read his post, the question was use hp to buy a slot and keep her or spend hp on a cover and scrap her. if he uses hp to buy the slot versus using hp to buy a cover he can always scrap her later. my point was to not buy one 3* cover at this point. yes maybe he can use the slot for iron fist instead, but im guessing he has already made that calculation.

I would keep the elektra. What if she gets a xforce type buff in the future? I'd rather stockpile a useless 4 star as opposed to a useless 3/2 star. Keep in mind there are plenty of people out there that complain about how hard it is to compete in events and the top rewards are these 4 stars so they are pretty rare. If you are lucky enough to pull one from tokens, I would savor it and keep it unless you are have that 4 star maxed out. For example, since I have maxed my xforce, I have actually pulled 4 more xforce blacks since then from token pulls I've gotten just from playing. Unfortunately I don't need it anymore, talk about bittersweet.

I will say that the same situation presented itself to me a while back; I now have a 12/13 Invisible Woman. She's clunky, and sitting around lvl 100 and I only use her on random low-level PvE missions. She hasn't done me any real good so far. However, I think the expectation is that they will be re-doing her pretty soon. So I'm in that murky grey area where it sounds like maybe I regret collecting her covers, but i really don't because a roster spot is really not a ton of money. I just got my first Star-Lord from Season XI rewards, and I bought a slot for him... basically because he's a 4* toon who kinda sucks now, but those covers are hard to come by, X-Force sucked really bad for a good long bit, but I kept the handful of covers I had of him... he's still only 525 and lvl 220, but I'm real glad I kept his covers when he sucked.

That's the real problem with needing more and more roster spots. Holding on to a useless character in the short run, hoping that they will be fixed in the future, or that you will eventually get enough covers to make them viable...

I have an alliance member wrestling with a similar problem, wanting to drop Doc Ock in favor of Iron Fist. I told him its a gamble. It will payoff short-term but could potentially hurt long-term...
