In order to avoid the mess that came out of the last gauntlet, go ahead and please tell us now that the torch in progression is a mistake and change it to Johnny storm instead of folks hitting 500 and getting Johnny storm and another huge flame storm starts again. Let's skip the painful steps, yeah?

  • I'm hoping that this is not a mistake. This was exactly what pvp needed. 2* rosters have a hard time reaching 500 and now pvp won't just be a boring grind for the season 10pack.

Hitting progression points is a good adrenaline rush and the 3* cover is a great consolation prize for failing T100. Maybe 4*s will finally work their way to pvp T25/50, to usher in the new age of 4*s.

Agreed. If this is a mistake then the backlash could be worse since this affects more people. Thought I'd go ahead and give the devs a podium to announce any errors before the players found out first-hand.

I'm hoping this is another nod to the length it takes for the 2*-3* transition now that there are so many different characters. 35 3*'s after Iron Fist I believe, each needing 13 covers, 455 covers now needed: about 19 more per month as well (assuming 4* only every other month), so that number will be around 650 by years end.

With a 500 progression, 2*'s can start getting those covers.

If you are in a T100 alliance and get T100 individual you'd get six reward covers, three progression covers, and I'll presume seven DPDaily covers. 16 covers a week, 832 a year. Nice! Now the question will be how to get the ISO to possibly level those characters you are getting covers for, and how to make the 4* transition "easier" than the 2*-3*...

Why do people always toss around a T100 alliance like it's something you can get? If the game does have 100K active players, the T100 alliance accounts for 2000 players, which is the 2% of the population. This is even more exclusive than the top 20% you'd have to do for T100 placement. This isn't something you can just offer as a generic advice. It is not possible for the average person to place top 20% individually and perform top 2% as an alliance member unless you reinvented what probability means. Yes any individual can probably get into a T100 alliance that's desperate enough to fill a spot but you won't be staying in there very long as a transitoner either. Neither T100 alliance nor T100 placement is applicable to the general populace, but T100 alliance is especially not applicable as a long term solution. Ironically the T100 alliance would be valid if the game is dying because the less players there are the easier it is to hit T100 alliance given that's fixed at 2000 total players, but then the advice becomes 'if the game is sufficiently dead you can easily get T100 alliance' which doesn't lend much confidence to the game either.

Personally I've been in a T100 alliance (sig) since Season 3, when I entered with a 110 IM and a 117 Spidey. All those folks that say you can get there with 2*'s - I got to 600 and shielded almost always with 2*'s only, for five seasons or so. Now it's been awhile (and I assume my MMR has changed) - I don't know if that is possible.

But to your basic sentiment: I agree, T100 is actually pretty harsh (and whenever I say this folks just say try harder). Alliances all have free 20 now, I assume more play than ever, and I know for a fact the competition is getting tighter for these rewards. To ease off on the competitive nature, I do wish either it was bumped to 150 or 200 (and I know that there will be a scramble at whatever level, but then more are getting in), or do something like only count the top 18 or 19 scores of an alliance to generate the rankings.

Nahh I wan't 4 stars too stay exclusive. They should just offer more chances to win them like giving them out each ( for lack of better term that I know) PvE node thingies

But I hope this really stays . at this point the game has became so much easier and I weight has been lifted. Knowing that it won't take 2 more months to max another 3 star
  • If this is intentional, it's pretty awesome. Another way for people to accelerate through the dog days and get some more toys to play with a little faster.

If it's a **** up, they better get out in front of this really fast and set it straight. Because the mad will be strong. Very strong. Possibly even too fast and/or too furious.

Hoping it's not a glitch, but if it is, surely they'll simply take the hit on this one time and give out the 3* version.

I wouldn't put anything past them at this point.

Of course some people can get T100 alliance without apparently doing a lot, but usually you'll find your idea of 'not doing a lot' is actually doing a lot by other people's standards. Otherwise there's no reason why a classification that is likely less than 2% of the population (2000 out of 100K active players) should be easy to obtain by definition. It's great some people can get this to work but I just can't recommend that as a general advice because only 2% of the people can be in the T100 alliance unless the game took a serious hit in numbers, and it's actually going to become more exclusive if the game is growing since you can never have more than 2000 people in the top 100 alliances. At this point I don't think it's worthwhile to revamp the alliance system and expanding T100 to T200 is just shifting the problem elsewhere (instead of T101 alliance having a problem with the system now it's T201). The alliance reward probably should be something like 3 tokens instead of a cover, or that it should be something based on an alliance progression score, or even both. But that'd require a significant investment on revamping the alliance system and I'm sure there are more pressing issues. Since only about 2% of the people can benefit from T100 alliances and the game hasn't died from the fact that about 98% of the people will never be T100 alliance, I'd have to assume it's not a problem that's going to affect the bottom line.

They've been pretty good about letting people keep stuff they get from glitches, like when they handed out an extra set of Rags rewards a few months ago.

So if you want that green torch, jump in and grab it now! No take-backs once it's in our grubby paws. icon_e_smile.gif

Musta realized that all the transitioners and below were like "Screw PVP, just gonna DDQ from now on," so they had to give 'em a reason to stay.
  • Given that they started handing out 2* covers for PvP wins, the 500 reward has lost all meaning anyway. I would love to see it stay a 3* reward. Although the random nature is a bit weird. Why HT? Would it follow existing 2* patterns and be HT for like 3 in a row? Why not put in 2 Loki covers of different colors for Loki's tournament?

You've hit all the reasons it's so confusing to me. On one hand it would make sense cause as you said that 2* cover has become worthless, might as well just change it to 250iso. On the other hand random HT is random, so it seems like they just mistyped something and somehow didn't catch it in their QA/testing. Your double Loki cover idea is great, the between alliance and two progressions it's a whole new set they could give out on top of personal placement rewards. I like it!

With the Deadpool daily quest, they are making 3* characters more accessible. This could be a step in the same direction.
If it works out it could mean no more vaulting. It's an unsustainable model in the long run.
