Buff One Hero at a Time for PVP

With Speed Evil and Divine Champions running at the same time, this issue is really coming to the forefront. Speed evil is designed to showcase a particular villain for each lightning round but ever villain is buffed every round. Meanwhile Divine Champions is based around the idea of "choosing your champion", but since, again, all of the options are buffed at the same time, the event becomes more about assembling a team of 3 buffed heroes.

These events really aren't working as intended, and the result is low diversity in teams and IMO considerably less fun. The Divine Champions event feels particularly stale because the buffed heroes have a lot of overlap in the colors of their abilities, so assembling a team of them feels rather unrewarding but possibly necessary.

Change the Lightning rounds so that only the featured villain of each round is buffed, and change Divine Champions so that only the champion of the spot you choose is buffed for your team. Or, if this is too punishing to players who don't have enough covers, simply allow the player to choose one buffed hero per battle. I understand that this requires a bit more effort to implement, but the results would be worth it. I know that I would personally enjoy an event where I can hop between different divine heroes each battle and build a team around each, rather than just trying to pump out as much raw power as I can.

  • I have found the same thing, that the current tournament (divine... ) is not as enjoyable as other tournaments, because the diversity is not there. It seems like assemble a team of 10k heros and see what happens, even if the only abilities you have is red, yellow and green. Occasionally, I see a Modern Storm up there, but when 3 of the covers can peak at 10k+ health, it is hard for someone to diverge from the buffed heros to try and play strategically. As it sits, I throw in my "Hit Point Squad" and take the win with some damage and then just use spidey to heal in PVE. It could take up to 2 PVE levels to fully heal, but then I don't need health packs and I'm back in the game with little to no turnaround. The selected bubble you choose should buff only that hero so that even if you don't have 3 maxed buffed characters, you can still have a viable team. I don't play many lightning rounds currently as life gets in the way most of the time, but the ones I have played in look like the same recipe as this new tournament. Put in your buffed characters to stand any chance of winning, or take low ranking opponents down with a mixed buffed/non team and grind your way through 90 minutes. To be competitive in these tournaments, it's a must to play with 2 or maybe 3 of the buffed characters.
  • I agree, having three buffed heros is basically the same as none everyone is using buffed heroes it eliminates the point of the buff.
    Buffed heros should incur a small points penalty when used with one another say like 3-4 points for 2nd and 3rd buff heros.
  • Eh. Some events having multiple buffed heroes is fine. it's not every event, or even most events.
  • Just like LR, it should only run the boss buffed, the other two natural... I agree with the mostly boring nature stated above, and I see even less synergy in teams I fight really.
  • I think LR should have the current featured villian get a stronger buff (or the other guys a smaller buff, same thing). I don't think it'd work for something like DC because all that means is everyone fight on Thor and Ares's arena the whole time if you apply the same logic of only buffing the guy in their arena.

    I don't know that that's true, necessarily. If you're not at the top of the ladder yet and have access to a decent number of levelled heroes, swapping between the buffed heroes when they get critically low or downed could save a lot of health packs or time.
  • Yeah as someone without an 85 Thor the DC is just too punishing.

    I only have one 85 in that tourney (Ares) and I'm just way too outclassed to make progress. Every team is 85 Thor 85 CStorm 90+ Rags. It's too much.
