Deadpool purple ability question

I've looked but having trouble finding. The Deadpool points you acquire goes towards purple ability. If I use the points are they permanent or just per use or am I completely off on this?

-You get 2.8-3.2k or so DP points per day by playing a match with DP (loaner DP's count). You do not require a purple cover to earn points.
-Unleashing the super attack costs 28,000 DP points. Can be used on Team Up Whales! Whales! Whales!
-There does not appear to be a cap on points as of yet. I'm currently at 502,114 points.
-You can unleash a "regular" Whales! Whales! Whales! without spending points. A prompt goes up and you can choose whether to super charge it with points or not.
  • Are the points you put towards it permanent or only per use

Consumed on use. Once every 10 days you can 1 shot the enemy team
  • I was wondering this myself, thanks a lot. If I understand correctly you are saying we can use the whale nuke from team ups as well? If that's the case, you could just have a purple DP cover sitting around to send as TU. Also if you receive a TU you could send a bunch of tanks out in PVP to take damage while you earn the TUs and nuke teams well above your rosters ability?

The Whales TU still requires the DP points to be spent to instant kill anything so it's not like there's a way around the once per 10 day limit on DP point accumulation.

I wasn't looking for a way around earning the DP points with the TU. Just looking for ways to take advantage of whales against teams way more OP than mine. Using the team up allows you to use it as long as someone in your team is alive to earn TU tiles, instead of hoping you can keep DP alive while simultaneously trying to get enough purp AP.

You could theoretically boost TU AP and bring 1 or 3* storm or Ms. Marvel to try to speed it along. Would be a lot more effective than bringing along say a 1/1/2 underleveled DP. If you have other alliance members with an underleveled DP you could ask them to send him since its a 50% chance you'll get the right TU.

Any theories as to why/how the number of points you gets varies?

Demiurge devs love to use random number generators?
