that is NOT an amount set by the ability, does it use that character's tile values to determine damage (since they are directly destroying it) or does it still use the highest value of your entire team (as if the destroyed tiles were simply matched)?

    It uses the character's tile damage values. This is more noticeable when using an underleveled character (like 1* Storm) with a tile destruction ability.
