Advice on selling 3* covers?

This morning my Magneto was at 5 blue, 2 red, 3 yellow. Then Deadpool kindly gave me another yellow. I kept it because it lets me raise his level a bit, even though I hope to eventually respec to 5/5/3. The next time I play the game, SHIELD resupply will give me another yellow (two in one day!). What's the general wisdom on keeping or selling covers that bring you closer to 13, but aren't part of your ideal build? Normally I would just add the cover for the satisfaction of being closer to capped. But I happen to have a couple of blues laying around, and could start building a second one instead. I know, that's a lot of Magneto covers in one week. First world problems!

I would advise against building dupes: you start to run out of iso as you get more 3* characters, and leveling another character is much better than building a duplicate of a character you already have (since you can use the buffed character in heroics). Generally I will just apply all the covers I can to a character and not worry about the optimal build until after it's cover maxed: the opportunity cost of doing this is at most 1k iso (the 2 covers you waste before respeccing), and having the max cap higher can be very useful, as well has having that higher level skill while you wait for covers.
a 5 yellow, 3 red, 5 blue C. Mags is actually the preferred build for some people in PvE: the defense tiles can be more useful than the red damage vs hyperscaled nodes. 5 red is generally preferred for PvP though.0 -
Thanks Polarity! That's the way I was leaning. It was just a new sensation, having so many extra covers of a good character.0

Ahhhh, just wanted to post in a thread that made sense and not in that "other" thread anymore. You my friend actually appreciate the benefits for this new age of MPQ. Gratz on your CMags Yellow cover!0

My advice? Keeping duplicate heroes doesn't really serve you too well until you've already got one of every hero and reach the "why not?" stage. (The exceptions being Lady Thor and X-Force, possibly Hood and Loki for top end PvP so you can go longer without having to expend health packs).
Having a second Magneto won't do just worlds of good for you. You might notice a few niche situations where you might use him here or there, but overall the slot would be used if reserved for another 3 star down the road that might cover you on one more essential node or boosted for another event.
That said, I'd definitely take a "poorly spec'd" Magneto over an underleveled one. Go ahead and apply what covers you can and level him up.0
