Is he gone, on hiatus, retired from forum posting? Anyone know?

  • His last visit was yesterday afternoon, so I don't think we have to send out the search parties yet. He may just be busy.

Yesterday afternoon? That's ridiculous. I thought he was SERIOUS about this game.

Mostly, I was hired to work on another game.

There are many, many, many, many things that could be improved in MPQ, but after almost a year of making suggestions, I took up the chance to apply my analytic skills to a design team that wanted my help. There are about a dozen super-simple changes that would vastly improve the game. The game will be boring until some of the items are fixed, and I've seen no sign that the developers will break the boringness.

If the developers break out of their rut, then I'll likely start getting involved again.

Cool, your talent has to be used the best way possible.

I'm actually not convinced that MPQ needs super-simple changes to fix your boredom. Fixing small things like color inconsistencies and scarcity will improve the game, for example, but wouldn't make a big difference to most people. Buffing underpowered characters and nerfing overpowered ones is a (admittedly slow) part of their dev cycle already, and making that happen a little faster won't fundamentally change the game. Hardcore players will still keep to 1 or 2 top tier teams, casual players will still play their favorites, and everyone else will still fall in between.

Until actual face-to-face multiplayer is implemented (a practical impossibility unless they develop a true sequel), Puzzle Quest at its core just isn't really meant as a competitive multiplayer game, which is why I enjoy Gauntlet (in theory) and why I'm excited about the new dailies. It's cool that they have PvP systems in place, but compelling content is what will sell the game to the general playerbase.

My idea: they should just sell story bundles based on Marvel lore that are expanded, persistent, purchasable versions of the Deadpool daily, maybe with some added themed mechanics on certain nodes (damage % modifiers to certain color abilities, alternate win conditions, etc).
