Tips on super fast climb
So granted I am a fairly consistent 1000 pvp score achiever if it's worth it and if not maybe 900+. This is in no way achievable without a steady dose of shields. What I am wondering is how people go about from not being on the top 10 leaderboard which spans 1k to 600 and then within a minimal amount of time reaches 1k...I usually don't pay too much attention but noticed players do it quite often literally between me checking how much time is left on shields...like an hour...then they surpass 1k. I'm not hating or insinuating anything, I just want to emulate cause once I hit 800 it's gangbang time and a pretty tough climb without shields and even with hops 1-2 fights max. I assume it's easier with a TGT to climb higher without hits but seeing as I can't find anyone to attack I am shocked at how fast some players can climb. Any insight would be helpful.
Also once you get past 1k how do you guys get to those ridiculous levels? Again I can't find anyone worth fighting so seeing 1600 and 1500 even 1200 is shocking. Is it coordination with others? If so, how does that work exactly? I hardly see anyone from my alliance pop up in the nodes. Not that it's really worth the shields probably but if I want the first place reward, it would be nice to know the means to climb higher than just leveling off at around 1050.

One thing I have found helpful is not posting on the message board about how I like to hit the same people multiple times.
I've found that this keeps me from drawing negative attention to myself and having people go out of their way to murder me on my climbs. Your mileage may very!0 -

Ha!! It was actually easier to get to 1k this time so doubt it really had any effect. Plus the amount of gang banging that occurs without shielding before the post, it wouldn't be noticeable anyways.0 -

The only times I ever made it past 650 was win one of the 3 star covers I had was boosted and I only have 3 ( ) so I have not much experience. But when I did have then I seen that once you get too 700 points if your not shielded your getting attacked. For me when I raced to get the 1300 points and first place I had to spend about 700 hero points worth of shields which isn't bad since you gain 150 of it back through rewards and 100 for top 5 all while getting 3 3* covers and a 4 star. Its totally worth it. But I noticed that when you get high you Will constantly see X force a THOR teams and if you keep skipping it nay take you 10 or 20 but you'll find 50 point matches of 270 characters. Find 3 while your shielded. If you don't go into it with a plan your **** good as dead. I recommend using Damage boosters ap starters And ObWIDOW ( YES I SAID IT.) LEVEL 94 OBW YOU QUICKLY GET YOU AP ALL WHILE ENSURING THEY HAVE NUN. CUZ MAN SURGICAL STRIKE IS A B***CH. This ensures your chance of winning and quickens the battle. Now after you beat one of those 50 point matches skip a couple Times And see if you can get another 50 pint to pop up. ( but don't waste to much time, 40 seconds then on to the other 2 you already find. After you win 3 or 4 shield. You'll have gained 140-200 points if you didn't get attacked. Rinse and repeat
There May be an easier method but this worked for me the few times I was able too. I will say it's quite annoying to se people hit 1000 points and look at there roster to see that they dent even need the 3 star( already have them fully covered) and there goal is to gain the 4 star. It mAkes it nearly impossible for lower players who have just started making the 3 star transition like me to get covers they need.0 -

I'd just like to point out this is in no way true, and i hit 800+ (occasional 1000) scores with no shields all the time.
I use a synergy climb team, that knocks nodes down fast but maybe isn't the best on defense. In Mystique's PvP for example I ran MQ, MNM, XF up to 750, then switched over to XF/TGT, taking 30 point retaliation nodes on teams that thought me weak. Patch (or XF)/Daken is great for this, they don't use Health Packs.
Also, use your boosts. Buy more when you run out. If you are doing a climb (and not a hop) at over 800, start throwing rainbow boosts at it if its' for a vital 1000 cover (like TGT). With +All, +B/G you get to XF on turn 2 and SS on turn 4. That usually kills someone, and gives you a pile of AP to play with. I vary between +U/P and +R/Y depending on if XF needs a heal or not. Or sometimes I bring my OWB TU to steal the AP.
Personally I start taking any fights worth over 20, and clearing them in about 3-5 minutes. That means 1000 points takes a little over 2 hours. Make it 3 to account for retaliations. I have joined PvPs with 3 hours to go and gotten first place with 1100 before. No shields required.0 -

Generally sound tips, but you do know you wouldn't have those 50 pt targets without them going for 1000+, right? Usually I pick a quieter slice when I want placement rewards, and go mix it up with all the top scorers when I want progressions.0 -

Your use of OBW is why you are getting attacked so much. Her health SUCKS. A perfect example of a character way better on offense than defense. Same is kinda true of Hood, but at least he can survive a XF on turn 2 (sometimes). A top end player sees a 94 and they basically see a point snack.0 -

Wait I've never considered this offense and defense thing. I guess it's something to really think about. So offensive would be like

Part of it is coordination with others in the same score range so you can queue them up. Another part is being lucky when other high scorers happen to be available to queue up.
Probably not the greatest tips, but that's been my experience post-cooldowns.0 -
Similar to Lerysh, my keys to success are late joins, 270 Xforce, 270 TGT, and Boosts.
My tactics are quite a bit different though which was interesting to see.
- join pvp with anywhere from 4 hours left to as little as 90 minutes left (this is dependent on if I want a safety net to shield hop if things go wrong). I tend to give more time when the featured character is DEADLY...Sentry for example.
- use XF/featured/(loki,hood,fury,deadpool, mags, she-hulk, cap) for the first few hundred points...up to around 500 using +3 green/black boosts each match
- switch to XF/featured/TGT for the rest of the event using all 3x ISO ap boosts every battle.
- avoid all matches vs hood at all times. You might need to make an exception around 900+ but until then he's the greatest threat to your success since a low green/black board will spell disaster with your boosted ap being stolen. I'll happily battle non-hood nodes worth 18 points over a 25 point hood node. While you can replace TGT with hood to make the match super easy, it makes you a target to hits...so I try to avoid that when possible.
- choose matchups with the least chance at retals based on characters used even if points are little lower. This is also where having level 270 XF/TGT are important. Your team must look as threatening as possible even though in reality a team of 200 XF/TGT are just as likely to wipe you. Max level characters will get skipped more often.
- around 850-900 you'll hopefully start to see some big point matchups appear (30-40 range). These are necessary with the fast late climb because your score has become high enough to make you a target. You have to go for these with the understanding that you'll be getting hit soon. If 1000 is really important to you then I recommend dropping the red/yellow ISO boost for all+1 AP HP boosts at this point.
- Rush high point teams as quickly as possible even if they run hood. Keep going until you are hit twice or until you surpass 1000 whichever comes first. The fact is..you'll always reach a point in this area where you'll be hit but 2+ people in the span of a single sub 3 minute match. After this you'll consistently get hit by tons of others for a good 10 minutes. There's no recovery from this. You want to shield before this or your score will nosedive. The first hit post 900 score is typically coincidental and you can power through the lost points.
- congrats, 1000 prog reward (most of the time). If you need to hop you'll have to wait at least 30 minutes for retals to drop off.
This tactic has earned me the 1000 prog reward every time but once since the reward scaling has changed. There's certainly plenty of room for things to go wrong but for the most part I've found success with it. It's very much a tactic that only works because maxed level XF+TGT are still relatively obscure. As it grows in popularity my team will not avoid retals as long. So I'll enjoy this success while it lasts.0 -
