Protect and Strike Tile Mechanics Question

Does anyone know if strike/protect tiles affect abilities that damage your own team, such as The Hulk's Smash and Ares' Sunder? I.e. do they increase/reduce the self-inflicted damage?

Also, if anyone would care to elaborate on the way these tiles work in various instances, here would be a good place. I think I understand but I'm not confident enough to say definitively.

Similarly if people have information on the relative strengths of different characters' strike/protect tiles to hand, then here would be a great place to display your knowledge!

Many thanks and have fun playing! ^^

  • In terms of strike tiles, Wolverine (**) is the strongest by far, but it probably won't stay long. Wolverine (***)'s strike tiles are currently very strong due to a bug, but that definitely won't last long.

Outside of that, the rest of the strike tile capable character seems reasonably balanced in their cost/tradeoffs.
  • Last I checked, strike tiles for Hulk's L5 Anger affect opponent damage but not your own.
  • Strike tiles will augment damage on special attacks, and damage from tiles. If you're rolling with Wolverine or Punisher, use feral claws or judgment prior to unleashing the rest of your arsenal. In addition passive attacks like Storm's tempest, Hulk's level 5 anger, or OBW's level 4 Espionage also include the strike tiles, in the case of OBW you get double the benefit (one the tile damage and again for espionage damage) which really piles up once you've filled the board with strike tiles.

I do not believe damage incurred from sunder is amplified by strike tiles, will test it when I break my shield and report back.

I'm sure this should be obvious, but I can't find it explicitly stated anywhere - protect tiles have an additive effect, right? Multiple protect tiles reduce damage by the sum of their values? So offensively, there's some advantage to laying down more protect tiles when possible and defensively, important to prioritize reducing the number of protect tiles.

    This is correct.

If you click a tile on the board, you can now see a tally indicating the total protect, attack, and strike tile damage for both teams. In the year of our lord 2014 when this post originated that wasn’t possible of course.

Unless this has changed very recently, you cannot do this in Steam.  :'(

I play on iOS, I couldn't say if it's there on Steam or not.

You can't see it in steam. Just like you can't see the arrow to swap who you are targeting on the enemy team.

I have requested this feature and asked multiple times why this is not in Steam.

0 response from Devs. Not even a reason why. Funny when they keep giving us characters that use/abuse special tiles like KateP, polaris, B4ast etc.
