Why even charge for roaster slots

i Mean 700 per slot is insane. I would be more then happy to put more money into this game to buy slots but your lucky to get what 3 for 20 bucks. I know i put 20 bucks in back around thanksgiving and was just starting out but i think i was able to get around 10 or 12 slots for that price. What is around 1.50 or 2 bucks per slot, compair to what 7+ its going to cost me now. I mean if they gave the slots out it would mean people would have bigger roasters meaning more covers they would spend HP on, meaning they would buy more HP to buy more covers. I know i would buy covers if slots were cheaper but with every HP i get having to go to get more slots its just costing D3 money buy forcing me to spend all of the earned hp on slots instead of covers
Maybe keep it at 200 hp per slot, then i can buy HP to buy covers, but there is no reason right now to buy HP when i know im going to have to spend 700 every time i want to a new slot.
So many times i almost put a U where that O goes

Maybe they should include it as daily supply rewards too. Even event rewards, and even in tokens. I think that would help. I can't remember the last time I bought a slot, I just keep cutting garbage 3 stars I never use.0

We're talking about the "World's Greatest" here... it goes at a premium

I have to agree. Roster slots are getting out of hand. I had a really good idea for them that basically boiled down to:
Make roster slots free for the first copy of a character that you recruit. If you delete that character the slot goes with it.
Charge for roster slots for duplicate copies of a character. These slots are permanent and can only be used by duplicate copies of characters you already have.0 -
My crusade!
I'm 60/60, and always came in these with "I have one of every character...." At some point I build a 2nd OBW, but I found myself finally unable to buy any more slots after this point. 800HP for a slot is ridiculous, and that is what you -must- pay (at least) if you are a collector - if you have at least one of everything. "Roster diversity" is a myth with these costs.
Gone is Yelena (2nd OBW), gone is Hawkeye (Starlord), gone will be black widow tomorrow (Cyclops). Then I guess it will be Venom, Storm, IM....Woe to D3 if they ever try to run a all 1* tourney again, so many will just not play or be mad about it! Even keeping that one Juggy for combined arms is already meaning hard 2* cuts.
When these cost half+ of a 3* cover (650) it was way to much. I'm fine with -some- cost, but 500HP cap seems fine. Right now you had to pay about 1/3rd of a 4* cover! By not buying those last three roster spots, I bought myself an X-force black instead - that seems a bit better...and that just shouldn't be.
Here is where I put my math to shame the company and warn off new players until they fix this. http://marvelpuzzlequest.wikia.com/wiki/Hero_Points
62 characters in-game, with another added every other week. Current HP cost to have those on your roster: 25,400 HP. A "Stark Salary" is 20,000HP, and costs $100 real-world dollars: that's the price to play.0 -

I don't have any 1* characters anymore. I've had to delete them all to make room for new characters. I DO have about 10 3*s that gather dust on my roster having 1-3 covers. This is what D3 wants; they want you to make difficult decisions regarding rosters and what characters to keep.
Yes, roster slot pricing is absurd and they don't care.0 -
Well, they gotta make money somewhere. We decry "Roster slots are too expensive", "Covers are too expensive", "Tokens are a lottery ticket with poor odds", "Health packs are a cash grab", "Shield cooldowns are a cash grab"... But developers gotta eat. So we have to be willing to pay for something.
My experience has been that once I got a few months into the game, I earned enough HP through the game to pay for roster slots for all the new characters that come out. Or to buy the occasional cover (I've even bought a 4*). Or to spend a bunch on shields. If I want to do multiple of these, then I need to support the game with some cash. Which is fine, I don't mind tossing in $20 every 3 or 4 months to support something which I get so much play time out of.
Clearly this isn't the case earlier in the game experience. The 1* -> 2* transition is now built to encourage players to become paying customers fairly early in the experience (or to lose all those valuable covers that will expire). And I assume there is data that says something like "If an F2P game can't covert someone to a paying customer within the first 30 days, the odds are slim the player will ever become a paying customer" or something like that.
The way that I got over the high prices was to decouple the HP purchasing experience from the in-game purchasing experience. When I looked at buying a 4* cover and said "Wow, that costs about $20. I would never pay for that" that prevented me from spending. Now instead, when an HP sale comes around, I'll say "Am I having fun with the game? If so, spend $20" and then in-game think about how I want to optimize the HP stash that I have (usually hoarding it and just buying roster slots until it grows large enough that buying a cover that will have a significant impact doesn't seem too expensive).
I'm sure Demiurge has data that drives their decisions on these things. For example, I could see that the new daily PvE could be driven by data that says "People will buy the 5th cover of a color, but they won't buy a 2nd cover, so we might as well make it a bit easier for them to get to 4 covers". I'm sure the roster slot data would be interesting to see.0 -
The good news, as a player base we are doing a good job of continuing to ask (and upvote 25 times) about the roster slot prices. Maybe they'll get tired of answering the question and just put a cap on it.
I'm not saying they have to be free or 200 HP, but 600 HP would be more reasonable especially if there continues to be at least one new character every two weeks.
You know it's getting serious when I have no Yelena, sold off my 2* Daken and Moonnstone again, and I only have 2 OBW TUP's and 1 MBW TUP.0 -
i always thought it was weird that the slots needed to be unlocked. In most other games the heroes unlock once you get them.In MPQ, you get charged twice for heroes. if they were a little more generous with or if the slots were 1/2 this would not be such a significant hurdle. For new players, they are bundling slots making it more difficult for players to get over and they have more 3* diversity to deal with.0

I am a collector but had to stop... it's too expensive for how little 90% of the characters actually get to suit up. That may change with dp daily, maybe not for Beast or She Hulk so theres 2 slots for future 4*.0

My biggest problem with the roster spot fiasco is the essential team up missions.
Early on I would cut a player just to find them essential in the PvE a week later.
I think a compromise would be to let two or three star versions be subbed as essentials, thus preventing us from having to carry three Storms on our roster. I'm sure they could scale or nerd them per event to get the parity desired.0 -
700HP for a single roster slot when we won't even have the ISO to pump into the character, or the covers for another year, or the will to give them any attention whatsoever when the only two characters that matter are are XForce/4Thor...makes a lot of sense.0

Why charge for 'roaster slots'? Well, being a roaster on the team is a very lucrative business that everyone wants to be in, so to buy a slot means that you are serious about the team.

Oh did you mean roster slots? I can see where you got 'roaster' and 'roster' mixed up. The letter 's' is next to the letter 'a', after all.0
