Yes, I agree. Repeatedly skipping opponents until you hit one with an optimal amount of reward points seems like a part of an inherent flaw in the current system which is not easy to solve. I know that I personally have been blindly skipping a lot of 30 point battles (which used to be the optimal amount) lately in search of a new and shiny 50 point golden goose egg. But this is just how humans work; we want to maximize our rewards for the least amount of time spent. We also want to maximize our points to compensate for the bulk of points possibly lost in the same amount of time. Whatever the case may be, adding the proposed skipping tax probably won't stop many players from looking for their golden egg, but it will sure frustrate the players (easy business solution) instead of fixing the flaws in the system (difficult solution).
I withdraw my previous statement regarding skipping, as you are correct that it will be more for strategy than the old "I cant beat those covers" issue, or "the fights are worthless" issue. They are implementing a skip tax anyway, this would make it worth it. Skip for a strategic advantage, or play and get what you can without paying precious ISO. If MMR is no longer tied to your win/loss/tanking ratio, then this system again seems like a fair choice. As a perk, it will penalize tankers, as they will only lose their high ranking because they don't actually belong where they positioned themselves. This should even out the playing field in that if you are tough enough to earn 2400 points, you should have the high ranking covers to throw up as "scarecrows" to ward off attackers, or just by placing your card level outside the +/- 10% where they can attack you.
Base your MMR on current levels for the 3 covers you are playing with and things even out. They want us to play, not skip and tank. I would even bet that some people will think of more creative ways to put together teams because someone with 3 level 85 covers will be in the same MMR as someone running a team of say, 140 Spiderman, 40 Venom and 85 Wolverine. They don't want us to throw away our old covers, so introduce a way to make them useful and strategic all at the same time.0
