AI tile matching

I know the AI will always go for a 4 or a 5 tile combo if one is available.

I also know (or thought I did) that the tile generation is meant to be random.

However spotted something odd last night, there was a 4 tile combo on the board but the AI didn't match it, instead going for a 3 tile vertical match near the top that led to a 5 combo when 3 of the same colour dropped.

I must admit that this is the first time I have observed this (been playing for a year).

Anyone seen anything similar? Has something changed with the matching algorithm?

This is a serious question (as I don't always read all the changes etc) not a conspiracy theory thread!

  • I sometimes think I see a 4 and the AI doesn't take it and then I get confused for a second, but then I decide the move the AI took probably made the 4. Sometimes playing too fast can lead to seeing things that aren't.
  • I hadn't played MPQ for months, but decided to try the game again. So I don't know if something has changed, but this happened to me today (I think twice). The AI had an easy 4-match which I missed when it was my turn, but the AI ignored it and made another match. Sadly,I don't remember if the match allowed the AI to use an ability the next turn.
  • There are a lot of cases where I think there may have been a match 4 prior to the board being altered that the AI missed. However, I have never seen a case where I know there is a match 4 and the AI passed it up for a match 3, so I'm inclined to think I'm just imagining things.
  • i see this all the time. a 4 match on the board, AI didn't go for it...instead they went for a normal match, which turns into multiple matches including hitting that 4 and many more DROPPED 4matches. Meaning, those other 4matches weren't even on the board.

I don't like how the AI gets tons of their colors on the board all the time. Empericists ect..all those purple goons. There are ALWAYS TONS of purple on those baords. That to me screams NOT random!

I wonder if someone fluent in java could look into the coding for this game and see if there is more of an edge given to the AI...not that we really need verifcation with all the evidence. I had a team of lvl40 non-goons, take out my 94 team with a HUGE SERIES of matches in only a few turns. Especially Juggs, Rags and Ares. They get SOOOOOOO much green and red, you can't even deny them. They're hitting their abilities every turn.

Very discouraging, but i'm sure in their eyes, profitable....in the way of selling healthpacks.
