getting tired of all of this...

I like this game and I like you people, but I'm getting weary.
PvP is a freaking slog (really devs, are you so stingy that one more layer of 3* covers would hurt the game), this competetive PvE nonsense is ridiculous (yes, I know we are getting something daily and non comeptive soon) and you have to grind the **** out of it for a small chance of the top prizes, the Gauntlet is giving me "Normal" teams that are close to 100 levels above my average roster, almost all of my last dozens of event tokens have been 2*, for the most part devs are only worried about the next character and refuse any suggestions about more fundamental game concerns, etc etc. and it's just not fun.
I have a lot of work stuff coming up in the next couple of months, so will be playing much less than usual, but how is a casual player supposed to progress in this game - minimal chance of high ranked covers in PvE and PvP you more often that not lose your places, but what's the point - play a lot for the chance of a cover, to.... get another cover... and then fight for another cover... etc. Eh.
What's the point.
Anyway...

Hopefully, there will be more options to advance while playing this as a game.
One of my friends started playing around 2 months ago, just graduated from the "new player" brackets into the open. He went from being able to play casually and hit top 50, to suddenly finishing in the 800s. His comment was "I wish I could just pay $40 for this and play a game."0 -
Well, for me, the point is to pass the time doing something I enjoy. I love comics and I like match 3, or puzzle, games. And believe me, I know that this game can be frustrating at times. But if it is so frustrating that it is no longer fun, then that will be my time to quit completely, or at least move to super casual play. I doubt I'll be quitting the game anytime soon though, I love it too much. But that's just me. Other people like different kinds of games.
And yes, the devs could give out higher character * prizes and more rewards. However, IMO, if they did that, then I would advance way too fast and then have everything maxed out and just lose interest.
On the other hand, advancing too slow will cause players to lose intrest as well.
So finding a balance between helping players advance at good pace and having them advance too fast is not easy.0 -

For every forumite with maxed/high level 4*s and a boatload of maxed 3*s, there are hundreds like me who have played for over 300-400 days and only have a few maxed 3*s. I do have a level 180+ XForce, but not the optimal build.
The Sentry event that ended yesterday; I started seeing teams with maxed or high level XForce/Lady Thor at 500 points. Progression in this game moves at a snails pace unless you have the right characters or unless you're in a top alliance (or unless you pay).0 -

The progression is what is getting killer, every character added only slows down this snails pace even more. Hopefully the "one 3* a day" new play-style will be gettable by all transitioners (unlike the impossible gauntlet). I get the frustration and wondering "what's the point", once in awhile that though crosses my mind as well.
More than ever it seems unless you had a 3* roster early on (early players, that got those Patch/Hulk/Thor covers before they were one of thirty+ characters) you couldn't compete for the 4* covers early on (before X-force buff). And then those folks now have the 4*'s - so they are the only ones that can compete with future 4*'s. I really don't think that anyone (ok, most) who started even six months after the game launched will ever be able to compete at top levels [read: 'catch up, cover best characters'] without paying to do so.0 -

But that seems to be it. the rest of it is just a grind to stay competitive. If i don't play this event and get this new character i won't place well in the next event and i won't win enough HP to get the next roster slot. oh no! i focused on doing well to get new character I'm now behind in the season got catch up to get my 10 pack. dud all silvers. rinse repeat die a little inside.
i love the concept of this game but it seems at almost every turn this game is penalizing you for trying to play more. This game is getting changed for the worse at almost every step. Another thing fundamentally wrong is that this game is seriously lacking balance. if it was more balance you make a pretty decent team with just your favorites. you can't play your favorites here and be competitive ( unless they are thoress and wolvie) especially once they get beat black and blue by MR Nerfs, spidey nooooo! someone please turn bagman away the poor dimwit doesn't deserve to see this. I have a 544 spidey 3* just sitting in the corner in his wheel chair staring at the wall stuck at level 78 cause i can't justify spend more on him for the moment.
The truly tragic part is that this game would be so much more fun if some of the suggestion in this very forum's suggestion and feed back section would be implement. In these last few weeks i find myself more on the forums then actually playing the game. I picked up my phone a few times while on the forums not use the 5 health packs that are stagnating but to reference my roster or game play for a forum post to help make this game better. i can't agree more with the OP. All this constant grinding is really taking a toll on me and I am getting tired of all of this....0 -

I'm back to playing the game after taking a long time off. It's not just that there used to be fewer 3*s to collect. Lightning Rounds used to award 3* covers, and fairly generously. If you could play during off peak hours, someone with a good 2* roster could reliably earn three or four 3* covers a day during Lightning Rounds, from a limited pool of five characters (three of which only had two colors). Once you had your own version of the featured characters, it became even easier.
People starting now have a very narrow path to getting 3* characters, and you can't even spend real money on them unless you already have one. It must be incredibly frustrating. I really hope this rumored daily PvE fixes things a bit!0 -

I felt that "What's the point" feeling when I couldn't even finish top 100 in the Sentry event. Grind for a few hours and then get slammed by a wall of more powerful opponents. I've usually been able to hit 600-750 in these new PvPs with lower progression awards, but I hit the wall at 500 yesterday and said EFF this.
PvE is just a effin joke. I don't even try to place in the top to win new covers anymore.
I yearn for permanent non competitive content.0 -

The old Lightning rounds is how I won a most of my Doom and Magneto covers. I probably would have quit last year if I didn't score those valuable covers. I can't imagine being a new player.0 -
I like this game. It's really the only reason I play.0

This. It always seems weird to me that someone would slog through a game they're not enjoying.
"God I hate this competitive PvE nonsense"
<plays every 3 hours religiously>
"This really sucks"
I haven't played a PvE competitively in a month. I've yet to play one with 8 hour refresh, so not even sure if it's better/worse/indifferent. I'm down to playing the events I like, or for characters I want. I wanted SQ, so I played it. I didn't want Torch, Star-Lord, or Daredevil, so I didn't play. Really easy.
Now, I'm on day 360. I've got XForce (lvl 206) I've got a slew of 100+ 3*s, most cover maxed, a couple totally maxed (3Thor, Cap). So yes I have the luxury to not worry about having an essential for a new character, but I also lived and breathed this game for months to get there. I don't regret a minute of that, because I like the game. I like the mechanics. I like the people in my alliance.
I just can't imagine doing any of that, or being where I am, if I hated the game as much as some people seem to.0 -
I posted something similar in the other thread but I think the devs in this game naively assumed if the game is good they don't need a fancy plan to monetize stuff or even deliver content at a reasonable pace. Well, the game is good, but the aforementioned stuff isn't just for the show either. Having monetization model that make sense (I'd like to support this game, but it's hard to justify spending money when I can get everything for free) and a decent content delivery schedule (PvE that's more than just a rerun of the same thing, PvP that's not just featured + 2 same guys format) does matter.0

A Phanton post I can 100% get under. Yes. I kid, I kid.
I would also love to support MPQ, but I find it hard to justify spending it on Hero Points because I don't have a good use for them yet, since I don't have any viable 3*s, and I can't justify buying ISO-8 because the prices are horrible. Then, on the other hand, me and my girlfriend dropped $35 a piece on League when we got her taxes, and we both plan on spending a little bit more when mine come in.
I've bought a single skin so far, because my girlfriend wanted to have matching skins (Arcade Sona and Arcade Miss Fortune lol), but I'm also going to buy Rune Pages when they go on sale again. I'm okay with that 3k Riot Points just sitting in my account for now because I've put endless hours into that game and I know when I decide to spend that RP I'll absolutely get my money's worth. Then, on the other hand, if I even did buy Hero Points or something, they'd just sit in my account for who knows how long (I've had over 1k since the holidays), and when I actually spent them I may or may not feel like I got my money's worth.0 -

I am just shocked they haven't put in different skins/animations/sounds for monitization. That's how Team Fortress makes all of its money - on hats or something right? I have never and will never put a cent towards skins - I really could care less. But it seems like something tons of people want, and an easy thing to put out there for money that won't directly effect your game in a P2W manner.0 -

Skins are honestly kind of weird for how they're going into this (or at least how they were), because there are already multiple versions of characters, unless they are legitimate costumes, like a Santa suit or something gimmicky - unless they gave you the ability to say, use an X-Force skin on 2* Wolverine, but I'm not really sure how well that would go over. Beyond that, honestly, I wouldn't personally ever buy a skin for this game - why would you - in League you spend 100% of the game staring at your character model, so it's kind of refreshing to see a new model every now and again, but in MPQ, I rarely look at the characters. I couldn't care less about a skin in MPQ.
That being said, I'm not against cosmetics, I just think that skins are not really feasible for MPQ. Maybe trinkets and things like that you could adorn to characters? Hats, pins, facial wear, etc.0 -
If they multipled iso in the bundles by 10 I would immediately drop a hundred bucks on it.
Time = money0 -

Only skin I would have spent money on would be a patch skin, but they made him...lol. Maybe some of the hardcores would. If they had Dr Strange I would dump 150 HP or some Iso for his alernate costume he wore for a short while (cover of iss 177 in original series)
You might find people like me here and there that would buy one. If they sold black suit spidey skins for 3000 HP I bet you they'd sell thousands. Otherwise, you might get the odd kid dropping a bit here or there.0 -
My point isn't really that people wouldn't buy skins, but that they would be kind of shooting themselves in the foot by making skins for existing people, when they could just make it a new character instead.
Some good ones could be stuff like Symbiote Groot, because they aren't 'major' enough to really warrant a new character or things like X-Force Wolverine and "Black Suit" Spider-Man, simply because they are fan-favorite and would likely sell and they could probably just go back around and make them anyways and people could still be okay with it.0 -
So I'm taking it that you can't control who the computer gives you as opponent choices in PvP? I'd like to ask this in it's own thread, but for some reason I can't create threads...0

8 hour is infinitely better. I was a 1 cover, occasion 2 cover player in PvE with 2.5 or 3 hour refreshes. Got a top10 in the first 8 hour PvE with similar or slightly less effort and pulled a top2 in the second, albeit with more effort and an alarm (for the first time - don't know how the Europeans did it for so long), but could have had a top10 with much less effort - I just wanted the Green XF and my wife was out of town that night (she wouldn't have put up with me getting up for a **** game).
Much more relaxed, the grinders lost their advantage, and playing relatively optimally with a strong end of sub clear is plenty to win 2 or 3 covers.0 -
