Defensive points while shielded?

For those of you using shields all the time (I only do this once per PvP), do defensive points still get added when shields are up? As in, you put the shield on, someone attacks you, and you get points for a defensive win.

The reason I ask is because it has happened to me once or twice. It may be due to server/phone communication lag, so I really don't know. But it would be interesting if this is the case. Last night for the spider man pvp, I was close to the end of the event (2h to go), and shield went up. I sat at 599 points at that point, monitored for 10-15 more minutes, and then fell asleep. I awoke to find out I had a win for 14 points, which put me at 613. I found it rather odd, since I had checked my score after shielding (by calling up the player ranking menu). Any insights? Thanks!

If this is NOT the case, then I ask, how do you know whether an attack on you was a defensive win or loss? I presume we see all the attacks on the screen as "(0)" so I wouldn't know how to distinguish the two.

To be honest, this is the sort of thing I gripe(d) about as a "new" player. There is no instruction manual to how to play this game. I'm on day 198 and feel kind of silly for even asking these questions, but such is the case.

Yes. If someone attacks you and loses while you are shielded you get the points for the defensive win.

yes but after a bit you don't come up for people to attack anymore, so your def wins will come from people who had you lined up before you shielded
