I've seen that in a couple of the last pvps. Someone will be shielded 4-6 hours into the event at maybe 600 points, and hop at least every 8 hours until the end. The amusing ones for me are where someone does that, and I make a run somewhere in the last 3-8 hours, pass them, and use a single shield. And it's not people with weak rosters who have to shield early. Some of these are people who rock the maxed SexGoddess team.

I have also started to take the "if that's what they want" approach. Different people play the game differently. If they find enjoyment in shielding for 90+% of an event, more power to them.

When are they going to put in Cmags covers? Been waiting months for that bad boy

That's the big question. They've been so stingy w/ 3*Mag covers, you'd think he was a 4* character! I understand he USED to be OP, but now he's not so put him as a prize maybe more than once every 6 months?

Mine is 5/5/2, so I'm quite happy I only need top 25 to get the last black.
I guess this means need to play some Webslinger too to be able to spec my Sentry properly for this tournament...

I want mystique pretty badly so will be going hard on this one. Sentry may be nerfed, but he is still annoying as a featured char. A lot of ppl have him with high hp compared to the usual featured char.

If by "annoying," you mean "to have on your team." Yeah, completely agree with that one.

He's a meat shield and needs a health recharge about every 3-4 matches. I've set off one of his powers in 10-12 matches - Supernova after a Surgical Strike. Boosted Sentry makes strongest color red, no more red on board after SS = only their team takes damage. I feel silly but I figured this out after my 10th match, lol. Other than that, I am strongly averse to using his powers. Either too slow (WR) or makes climbing that much harder with healthpack usage (Sacrifice).

Since shield cooldowns went into effect, I've only been playing the last few hours of an event, pushing as hard and as fast as I can. Usually end top 50 with around 700 points. But I want to start going for +900 points for the progression rewards now though.

What kind of a score is usually required for a top 10 reward these days? I have a 1/5/2 Mystique, so I'm trying to figure out what kind of a score I need to shoot for the covers I actually need. I wonder it I should stick to my shorter play time this event and hope for a blue or black at 900 points next event, or just to for t now to get a feel of the new shielding methods.

Any help and encouragement is appreciated!

I can only speak for slice 1 as that's the one I end up joining normally, but from my experience since they lowered the scores for the 4*prize I've needed 1k to place top 10 when joining brackets with about 24hrs left. Not sure what is required for top 25 which would get you 2/3 covers.

I was excited too until my 5/4/3 mags said try again next time. I feel like this is going to be fierce for top 25 and I don't need top 100 yellow.

Nobody needs yellow and I think it's been the easiest to get twice in a row now. At least red isn't top five like it was last time.

Sentry is aggravating but no matter what his powers always cost points so he can only be so good. I use ragnarok on him to mitigate his green power otherwise he is a paper tiger.

my kid likes mystique so i will work to get 2 covers for her only bacause they seem to be using her frequently.

The classic magneto is overpowered but it is evident mostly when he is a pvp feature. Like xforce wolverine they pumped him up after a failed launch so i doubt they would admit defeat and nerf him.

My strategy is to have a core group of maxed out characters with the rest at or near 100 so you can be competitive in all pvp scenarios.

I decided to go for my first ever T5 in this event, since the only usable reward is at T25 for me.

I made my initial climb to 850 with just a little resistance at the end (longest climb I can ever remember too), set a 3 hr shield...

... long story made short. I'm at 752 after 2 shield hops which doesn't even put me in T25 atm. sigh. *if* I win a retaliation I might sneak into the T25 at the evert end, but that's kinda been the problem. Xf/tgt teams are only like a 75% win rate with the teams that I can field (patch, lcap, hulk are maxed), and that's dropped to 50% with all these max'd sentrys added into that comp. AI sentry doesn't have a care in the world about healthpacks, and then there is always the ever present possibility of a massive cascade ruining a perfectly decent run.

Gawd I hate pvp.

yeah this xforce/thor/sentry pvp is a **** for regular players without xforce/thor/leveled sentry.

Once again, you either have xforce/thor or you are wasting your time with this game.

I hit 3 matches in the remaining 9 min, for which the RNG gods were with me, managing to win all 3, which bumped me from #29 to #20, so I guess the 300hp in shield hops were worth the one Mystique black I gained. Not very fun though.

The first match I hit managed to easily hit me back before I finished the third match. If there was another 4 min involved it'd have been nice to get him again for another 40 pts, but with the event running out I guess the few points he got back from me was one of his best options.

Starfall is alot less fun than the old days of sentry. The nerfed version of starfall is very meh. Easy points, but damn i miss sentry bombing. Not once have i been sentry bombed, super nova yes.... but no sentry bombing. So i feel like its the season of Nerfed characters, because i see Mags is up after Mystique. Clever theme for the season.
