    Or a new 4* Spidey...
  • Spidey is the easiest fix of all.

    Leave purple and blue alone.

Change yellow to similar damage as Thor yellow and add 1 to 3 web tiles to the board (cover dependent). Adding the webtiles increase the length of the stun and increase protection of shields, so solid synergy.
  • Good move for Sony and Disney/Marvel. I think this has been the plan for a while now as Civil War is a slated MCU movie release and Spidey should feature in that one. I'd hate to see Andrew Garfield lose the gig because of some bad scriptwriting (and too many enemies-itis) but I have a feeling he's going to be dropped.

Really looking forward to seeing Spidey join the MCU!!!゙☆⌒o(*^ー゚)v
  • I like 3* Spidy like he is, dont change anything... he is perfect support character same like falcon... we have enought offensive character, Spidy dont need to be one of them!

But his yellow is just so TERRIBLE! Its the only ability in the game that only does "true heal" and no other function. I mean even Beast's yellow creates protect tiles and when Beast is a better option then you know there is an issue...

This was such good news this morning about Sony&Marvel working things out.

Regarding the character in MPQ, I may take flak for this, but I'm honestly fine with him the way he is (and yes I do have him max-leveled and 3/5/5). He fit a great support-character niche a long time ago and continues to do-so for me in harder PVE, especially when grouped with Falcon.

I would be fine with a change to his yellow though -- if it's still going to provide an in-battle heal, maybe reduce that and in tradeoff add some sort of damage element to it? EDIT: or if not damage, some sort of other support effect. i.e., similar to how OBW's blue works.

Since the true healing implementation, no characters should have a skill that is only a temporary heal. It's just wasting a skill!! I do agree that it isn't completely useless as I have used his bandages to save myself from a loss, but it's too expensive for a temporary battle heal. If it's only going to be a heal, it needs to be cheaper. Otherwise, it needs to be changed to an attack power. icon_spiderman.png is actually a powerful hero who has to attack people. I don't think I've ever seen him heal anybody.....so in terms of that, his yellowtile.png makes no sense at all.

The core problem with Spidey, aside from a very high costed yellow for its worth now, is web tiles. The web tiles mechanic is the biggest success and fail of Spidey. It's cool, because it makes him unique and fits the flavor of the character, however, the downside is that he is so dependent upon the web tile that his other skills suck without it.

What needs to happen is the creation of web tiles needs to become a passive, not an active. I would tack the web tile creation onto his purple, but add the 10 purple tile clause similar to Blade. If there are 10 or more purple tiles out, spiderman turns 1 random basic yellow tile into a web tile. Now becaue of this, you will more than likely have to increase the cost of blue, or have Spidey consume the web tiles to stun, aka Daken and strike tiles, this would keep things from getting ridiculos. Yellow needs to be compeltely reworked to either a lower cost or a damage skill

    In short. Rework yellow.

Blue consumes web tiles to stun, leave 5 blue AP cost and more tiles = higher stun

Purple, still creates defensive tiles on purple match, if more than 10 purple tiles out, create 2 random yellow web-tiles.

Do this and Spidey fixed. It makes him more reliable but without really increasing his power.

    some great ideas, Phaser.

Ideally, I'd love to see a rework like this worked-in around the same time as the introduction of a three-power, 3-star Venom with his own web tile mechanics.

Yes a 3* Venom would also fix Spidey, but why? Because it would offer another source of web tile creation other then himself, which again is why I would make web-tiles a passive as I suggested, but have them consumable so as not to completely litter the board.

    Actual Fix:

Spider-Man: Replace his Yellow with Web-Swing(might necessitate changing his yellowflag.png to greenflag.png). Web-Swing: Spider-Man zips across the battlefield, ruining the enemy's plans. Spider-Man neutralizes ( enemyprotect.pngenemystrike.pngeattack.pngecountdown.png ) and creates/consumes a web.png. If he creates a web tile, it ends there. If he consumes web tiles, he'd "continue" zipping around the battlefield. Spidey's web-slinging destroys tiles FROM ( web.png or special tile) to enemyprotect.pngenemystrike.pngeattack.pngecountdown.png dealing dmg for each. Player can choose it or it can just be random. If necessary, this can consume web tiles as a "cost". Giving Spidey lots of damage here would make him much like revamped Hood, or if you wanted to keep him as a "support", tone the damage down and make it low cost/purely utility.
  • I agree that his yellow, while useful at times, is too expensive and doesn't really fit the character.

I think his yellow should be reworked into a medium damage ability. This would still keep him as a mostly support character, but with some offensive ability.

I also think that the Web Tile mechanic needs a rework. Have them function like IW's bubbles and change bubbles to acting like Protect tiles that have to be matched twice. Which would also help with fixing IW...

and/or allow us to place them...
  • I realy dont want to Spidy like a offensive character... he hould stay support char.

And yes I agree that yellow cost to much to be your main choise, and Its need to be rework... maybe form 12 yellow to 9 yellow and add something to heal abbility science its no longer TRUE healing...
like after cast yellow Spidy heal and create web tiles, or destroy enemy ( enemyprotect.pngenemystrike.pngeattack.pngecountdown.png ) tile...

Not giving the guy who did this an offensive power is one of the most epic fails in the game's history.

Peter is a fighter, he never gives up.

As others have echoed, his blue and purple are pretty decent, but he needs an awesome yellow. He's SPIDERMAN, for Uncle Ben's sake! He takes down guys three times his size with clever use of his webs and his dexterity. Hmm... that gives me an idea (probably too wordy to fit into the game's existing skill descriptions, but I think it does sound fun and Spidey-like!)

The Bigger They Are - 9 AP yellowtile.png
Spiderman zips around the battlefield, slinging random objects at his over-sized foe with his web slingers. Destroys four random tiles, dealing damage for each tile destroyed (but not generating AP), and 166 additional damage to the targeted enemy. He then adds a yellow web tile to the board. If the targeted enemy has greater maximum HP than Spiderman, stuns the target for one turn.
    Level Upgrades
    Level 2: 212 additional damage.
Level 3: Destroys 5 random tiles. 244 additional damage. Destroys 1 additional random tile for every web tile on the board.
Level 4: Generates AP for any yellow, purple, or blue tiles destroyed. 277 additional damage. Destroys 1 additional random tile for every web tile on the board. If the targeted enemy has greater maximum HP than Spiderman, stuns the target for two turns.
Level 5: Destroys 6 random tiles. Generates AP for any yellow, purple, or blue tiles destroyed. 328 additional damage. Destroys 1 additional random tile for every web tile on the board. If the targeted enemy has greater maximum HP than Spiderman, stuns the target for two turns.
Max Level: Destroys 6 random tiles. Generates AP for any yellow, purple, or blue tiles destroyed. 1962 additional damage. Destroys 1 additional random tile for every web tile on the board. If the targeted enemy has greater maximum HP than Spiderman, stuns the target for two turns.

  • I wanted to get on the action since I think spidy needs a buff too although his blue is perfect but could us e a different approach his pink could improve and his yellow has to go,

New yellow, change to red costs 12ap "come back" spider man deals damage for every enemy special tile stuns the target for 1 turn and creates a random web trap tile. (Does not remove special tiles)

New blue costs 5 ap:stuns and sets 1 web tile trap any color the player chooses if the opponent matches the tile it gets stunned for one turn. (If you match the tile it changes randomly or simply goes away)

New pink passive: when making a purple match spidy overwrites an enemy special tile with a friendly protect tile and removes a web trap tile. If there are no web trap tiles or no special enemy tiles it creates a friendly protect tile.

The way I see spider man is dealing a bit of damage and being able to take any opponent on his own, also he always stuns( freezes) the opponent so having two stun abilities fits him better, like someone mentioned already he is a fighter and a team player so the tile over writing fits him better than just laying protect tiles.

Now that Survival mode is becoming a daily event of importance, Spidey is fine.
  • It wouldn't bother me if they changed Spiderman's yellow, but I disagree that it's a bad ability. It's saved me from losing MANY times, and the combination of Spiderman's purple and yellow abilities makes him a useful support characters for long grinding sessions.
