Is It Time for a TUP Upgrade?
Team Ups, which we get to call TUP's instead of TU's (which would have made more sense) because TheUnwiseOne (TU1) refused to share his trademark, have been out for a while now. Hopefully, many months later, the outrage in which they were greeted has died down. IMO, TUP's are what make Heroic PVE's almost bearable.
There have not been many changes to TUP's since shortly after their release. The AI had supernova and WR removed, and the AI was only permitted 1 (instead of 3) TUP's. The HP cost to recall characters on patrol was reduced. When boosts drops were re-introduced, the drop rate for TUP's was greatly diminished. The last is the one that has had the greatest impact.
Players are only permitted to have three characters out on patrol at a time. The patrol times seem kind of random. Some 3*'s have longer patrol times than 2*'s, and Fury likes to take his time and patrol for 36 hours, while X-Force patrols for only 24 hours.
I am hoping that we can get a TUP upgrade at this point. (1) Why cannot we have a TUP drop whenever there is not a boost drop? (2) How can player's help others in their alliance, when the patrol time is prohibitive of sending out your most powerful characters? (3) I have 19 other people in my alliance, each one can receive 5 TUP's at any given time, so why am I only permitted to send 3?
I'm obviously not asking for changes to all of these, but these are examples that there is more than one way the TUP system could be upgraded. I could understand the minimization of the TUP system when it was the scorn of the playerbase, but now that it seems to have been embraced by a majority (although not all) of the playerbase could we please have it bumped up so we can enjoy using it more?

I would unquestionably reply yes to the question in the subject line and you highlight some good issues/areas of improvement. I would add to that the suggestion I've seen elsewhere (apologies to the originator, I've forgotten who you are) to give us a random TUP, or as suggested an old environment ability as a TUP, when we "forget" to bring one. Surely it's a feel bad moment to be forced to collect TUP ap when there are no other matches and you didn't bring a TUP. D3 is usually in the business of eliminating feel bad moments (oh wait we have to start choosing who to keep and who to ditch cause that's fun, nevermind).0
