PvP - Can wins be awarded before defensive losses?

Just a thought. It would be nice if D3 could set things up in PvP such that points for wins are awarded, before defensive losses during a match. It's disheartening to win a match, and think you've reached a progression reward, only to find out that defensive losses while you've been playing that match have dropped you below that threshold.

I do appreciate there are practical issues that would get in the way of that, though. Presumably, the system is currently set up such that point wins and losses are applied in chronological order (as in, if you incur a defensive loss during a match, it is applied immediately, although the notification only comes through after you complete the match, and tap through the multiple post-match screens), and I guess it might introduce some weirdness in the system if someone, for some strange reason, stops playing a match partway through, and then resumes it sometime later.

I can still wish, though icon_e_smile.gif

The points are applied when it happens, not when you check after your match. The server doesn't queue up all the results and waits for you to finish your game.

What you want is that the game just doesn't register your losses at all and waits for some wins to come in before it processes your losses. Actually that doesn't make much sense so I don't really know what you want.

@post below: Are you sure you want the losses to apply at all? That seems counterproductive.

lol, sorry if I'm not being clear. It's exactly as you say. The points are applied when it happens. I was just saying that it would be nice if the game could register that you were in a match, and defer applying losses until that match was complete. As you say (and as I was saying), it's probably way too complicated to be workable, and it's not as if the current system is broken anyway. Wishful thinking on my part.

The more I think about, the less workable it sounds.

Edit: @the post above, since I don't want to bump this post any further - your point is well taken. It wasn't a particularly well thought out idea, but it was useful to bounce it off someone, so thank you, anyway.

Further edit: @bonfire below - really good point, it sounds like my idea is a terrible one! We'll consign it to the trash-heap of digital history.
  • Unfortunately it would be MUCH too abusable. Lets say i'm in a particularly tryhard alliance. We boost one member's score really early by mass retreating to them, THEN they open a match and just sit there, not finishing it. We then all hit them (the highest score in the time slice since we boosted them) over and over again without their score dropping because the server is waiting for them to get out of their match before applying all their losses.....

It's frustrating to think you reached a milestone then see multiple hits come in but probably no work around.
