Hood stealing early

I just played against a 166 hood w 5 blue in a pvp, and as I was looking to fire my BR hood stole a green and then they made a non green matching move. I counted the board and there were only 7 green out there. Two turns later he stole another with only 6 green on the board. Honestly, I felt like this cost me the match since I had to wait longer to fire my ability and he was giving xforce green without the color being eligible for a steal. Someone please check and/or correct this. Thanks

Could you tell us every other character and team-ups that were in the match?

My Hood is stealing AP normally but perhaps you have to be fighting him.
